I have never been a fan of these things TBH. I much prefer the idea of the slick top and as a result have been wondering if these can be replaced with painted sheet metal or even carbon fibre? Has anyone ever converted the lids for a more permanent item or... can they be painted? I would imagine paint would have a job sticking to glass.

I'm sure i remember seeing replacment carbon fibre panels, might of been on an aus or us forum though. I am sure they exist unless i imagined them :wack:

I'm pretty sure Ionic Dynamics was working on fabricating a set for the Z32. If they have made some, I'll pop in and see José when I am in California at the end of the summer and see how good they are. If they are anything like my spoiler, then it'll be a quality product.

Just buy a proper Slicktop:tongue:

Then you get rid of the targas AND the brat-pack rear seats all in one go!:wack:

:D:D:D

Thanks mate. That dont mean I am paying half your fare though. You can do it as a favour.

I have got blinds. Its not that though mate. Its the look of the car. I would just prefer it to be the colour of the car. Which incidently is soon going to be red like my sig>>>>

(I have hardly ever had them off as it causes to much buffering at just over 200MPH)

But yes please ask for me Si.

THanks bud. Not sure that they would only look good on a black car though. I have seen all colour skylines with carbon wings and the carbon looks good? Still a personal choice I think they would go well on a RED 300ZX. Especially if there was some more carbon to compliment it elswhere on the car?

Looks like they have covered the whole thing with carbon mat? Good idea. You can buy carbon mat off Ebay with the resin/acuator (or whatever it is) quite cheaply.

Now theres an idea. I do like a bit of automotive DiY

Im sure they will be a kind of etch primer that will allow you to paint the glass then you still have the option of taking them off if you want to.

And it means you wont be converting your car to the 'base model' spec :D
