can the water pump be changed without removing the cambelt, it was changed not long ago and dont want to pay for it to be done again

i losing coolant and think it may be coming from there

have topped it up and its just sat for an hour, the water has gone down slightly but cant see it dripping anywhere, it did dump about a cup full out yesterday, could i have an air lock and its taking ages to fill up????

is it possible to put some newpaper or similar below the engine and leave it for a while to see where the drips are coming from? when my front pipes went i traced it from the floor, behind the bottom pulley, up the cam end covers, and eventually to the top, but the leak was mega and i could easily see where the water was coming from

will try that, cheers bud, thing is its fookin raining now so cant check it, will keep an eye on it for a few days

yes mate front pipes are easyish to do and yes you cand do the water pump with out taking the belt off but you have to take almost the same amount of stuff off and removing the belt isnt hard !

cheers bud, might just stick some rad weld in for now till i can afford to get it sorted properly

not a big fan of that stuff just check the rubber hoses behind the alloy pipe with the temp senders in !

Radweld and V shaped engines dont mix, check all your pipes for splits and cracks, you can get leaks on pipes that only happen after shut off as when the system is flowing it tends to suck air in instead of leak water out, when you shut off the extra air in there pushes the water out.

If its not long had a cam belt surely the water pump and 2 short hoses would of been done?

thats unusual for you mate LOL

have ya tried the bleed screw at the top, if you loosen it and leave it runnin that ill tell you if you have an air lock

You have got a new £10 radiator cap..........have'nt you?

I had a similar thing with a honda legend, it just spat water out seemingly randomly.took me ages to suss it :smash:

Allan, get the system pressure tested. The problem is that more than often the leak only happens when the engine is hot so all that comes out is steam, not drops of water. A pressure test on a cold system will soon show any leaks ;)

ANY garage will be able to do that for you ;) If they can't they shouldn't be a garage lol

thats how i found my leak they're really easy to use and will show you the lead pretty much straight away
