I have several rusty parts on me Z :( namely the rear O/S outer sill and rear arch. I darn't look anywhere else :nelson:

I have got a repair panel for the sill and a good arch that was cut out of a car a while ago (cheerZ Pete)

Now I was going to get my body shop guy to fit, prep and paint these but I have lost confidence in him as a "welding expert" Don't get me wrong, the paint he does is superb.

So I didn't want him to fit the panels just do the paint.

So I told a few guys at my work, one of the guys I work with and another in a different department said I/we could do that for you, bar the paint. So i thought cool  we'll get together and try and sort something.

But you know what mates are like, "oh far too much on, well busy, can't do that for ages" sort of talk :smash:

So I'm looking for someone local(ish) who could fit these panels for me, for beer tokens (or whatever vouchers you fancy :D) for me.

is there anyone in or around Nottingham that could help ?

CheerZ people :o

Nobody that good at welding in Notts then :(

Plenty of people good enough to do it Paul.... the trouble is most skilled welders dont work for beer tokens.

If you pay in peanuts then you usually attract monkeys or so the saying goes.:x:

I would strongly advise before looking any further for someone to fit the outer sill that you double check that is all that is required. Very often the case once the outer panel is removed, any one of the inner 3 panels could be fooked and this involves a lot more work.

Firstly peel back the carpet from around the footwell in the rear seating area where it meets the seatbelt anchoarge points, if you spot rust there, then it's travelled through all 4 panels in total and it is a lot of work.

If no rust, jack the car up and look under the rear suspension mounting points, that's panel number No.3, if no rust there, then just doing the outer is quite simple, however there is a 2nd one right behind it which you can't see until the outer is removed.

Rear arch is simple, cost me 60 quid for a metalwork shop to cut old arch out and weld in a new panel, but bodyshop made good the finish.

So in short, check these points first and if worse than 1st thought, source the remaining panels and go to an actual metal fabricators/welders workshop for the work.
