Had to go to court today for a minor driving offence.......that took an unexpected turn...

 

Just as I was about to get told what fine/points I was being given the Court Clerk interupts to tell me that "I" have been Disqualified from Driving since 4th January for Drink driving and no insurance....WTF....first time I've ever heard of it !! :eek:

 

Apparantly I was caught and convicted on same day and I even attended court !

 

I was in shock!. Never been so much as breathalised before. The Magistrates seemed to believe me but said they can only go on the information they have and have adjourned the hearing till end of the month.

 

In the meantime Im disqualified from driving and may be facing a prison sentence for driving while disqualified.

 

What a mess !! Either there is a serious admin f*ckup or my identity has been stolen !

You were caught, appeared before the beak and convicted all on the same day? Didnt that ring any alarm bells with the clerk of the court today?

Feeling pretty relieved now that somebody has recognised the problem. Thought I was going to have to deal with a legnthy Court trial and solicitors.

 

****ed off that it looks like somebody has pretended to be me and caused all this agro though....and Im still technically banned till DVLA confirm otherwise, and I still got to go back to court for my original hearing becuase of the adjourment instead of that being over and done with. :rant:

Yeh, Magistrates mentioned that..but then the Clerk said if the person was heavily over the limit they would of been arrested and bought in front of the court later that day... I thought it was odd though :confused:

I reckon so, but all I was told about is the driving related offences. Im not aware of anyone having had any criminal offences..but must be somebody that knows me. I guess thats probably what gave the game away to the Police clerk when she looked it up on the system and said she could tell straight away.

You would think the court would realise it was a big mistake with the last offence, seeing as Im 28.

I've not been arrested for a driving offence... but won't they have a photograph of the driver who was arrested since drink driving is a criminal offence??

Well with the dvla recently losing all those identifications im not surprised... my sisters identity has been completely buggered..... tbh i wish the dvla would loose my identity and give me a fresh start mines such a mess......... a got a few summons to deal with at present and they are not pretty :(

 

hopefully like someone mentioned above, you will have your minor conviction scrubbed completely....

They will definetly have a photo of the driver for the original offence...they have to aswell as prints before getting locked up till sober enough to leave....

What a complete mucking fuddle.....

 

........hopefully it will get sorted with the least hassle for you mate. And hopefully, the fact that the court have (some of) their facts wrong, then the entire case should be thrown out.
