Just wondering if anyone's running their Z on Avo springs? I'm considering fitting some instead of the Tein ones I have as they offer a more aggressive drop. 35mm over the 15mm the Tein do.

Thanks in advance.

....I do remember reading that there is infact no difference in any of the springs in terms of level of drop for the Z32....not sure if this is correct information.

never used avo springs in the past but i'd prefer them to tein, your car does need a drop further than 15mm though imo, them sexy wheels need to sit just below the arches.

Not sure I want them sitting below the arches, but a lot closer too. The rear especially. I want it trimmed to the front wheels though. Hate the look of a lower rear than the front. Gives the impression of saggy tired suspension.

Ideally I'd have Eibachs, but they are barely any lower than stock. Whilst I want a better quality of spring, I also want it to look lower than it is without fitting coilovers.

thats what i mean Si, just above the arches and an all round level height, but you'll need adjustable tension rods (if you dont allready have them) so you can set the caster otherwise your gonna rub the inner walls off your tyres.

Oh yeah. I am big into getting the geometry just right. I have this lot sat in the garage waiting to be fitted. I am getting some bolt-on hub spacers for the fronts to kick the front wheels right out into the arches. Rear offset is great and sits right out in the arch, front doesn't. It's one of those things I just want to get right. I know that getting the stance just right will make my car look much better. Current stance is utter crap at the moment.

Itching to fit this lot.

hmmm i know what ya mean Si, i think apart from the exhausts this is what mine will be getting next, the picture in your other thread about the black zed is perfect, its just how i imagine mine in time to come, just add some nice plain impul skirts and it would be sorted, not over the top but not standard, perfection in a zed, lol

...worst phone I've ever owned (hate the joystick, hate the contacts thing on text messaging) barring the horrid T10 I had many many moons ago.

Something our infamous 'trader of the year 05' said in a thread ages and ages ago.

that all springs for the Z32 are the same height ? Definatly not true !

I'l find out the springs paul has on his vert...its very low, too low and horribly bouncy. He's taking them off, I thought they were AVO but I may be wrong.

  • Author

Ok cool...if they are then I'll steer well clear. Don't want a bouncy ride.

You do have to be carefull with springs that drop low though, as the only way for the manufacturs to stop them hitting the bumpstops becuase of the reduced suspension travel is for them to stiffen up the spring rate.

I reckon the Ground Control coilovers springs would be a good setup for you if you did'nt want to go for a full coilover setup.

How much are they? I don't want the ride too stiff.

Not sure on price, the springs are manufactured by Eibach, but use an adjustble collar that mounts to the stock or stock style (kyb, koni..etc) struts. More popular in the states and said to offer very good ride. Mclarenf1 kid is running them.

This is Paul's vert from last year on the mentioned lowering springs, I will find out what they are to avoid them !

(ignore the rest of car LOL , it does'nt look anything like that anymore thankfully !)

Christ!!! :x:

As for the suspension, it's too low for me. Front especially. Back looks a nice drop though.

i already ahve all them bits and the same phone haha.oh yeah i got mjp customised springs which are 30mm lower and 15% stiffer probably perfect for what you want, but you may aswell buy them new from mjp he can make whichever you prefere.

im selling mine with the shocks...

my brother has avo fitted to his 300zx . i wanted the same as it dropped the car to a nice height . but they had sold out of avo's . even avo themselves didn't have any instock . so i bought white line . for £148.00 delivered . but was way to low for me so have sold them and fitted eibach from zcentre . if you want pics of the avo's fitted to my brothers car just say and i will send some . cheers

Si,

First of all, AVO springs drop the car 30mm all round - I should know, I'm a reseller of AVO springs ... They are also 25% stiffer sprung than stock springs and are progressive just like Eibachs.

Secondly, in my experience cars equipped with either AVO or Eibachs offer the best compromise between ride quality and performance. They are nowhere near as stiff as any TEIN or HKS springs I've experienced and generally provide a superb ride on our crappy British roads.

Thirdly, I have a set of AVO springs in stock which are brand new and have never been fitted. RRP = £125 + p/p but I can let this set go for £100 + p/p. As they are quite heavy (and come in two boxes) postage will be around £20 via courier.

I have AVO's fitted to my car with KYB-AGX adjustable struts - a perfect combination IMHO. I'm afraid I can't show you a pic as the car is off the road and currently has no wheels on (anti-theft measure ...;) LOL)

HTH
