****Urgent***Window stuck down!!!!

I need urgent help!!!! My driver side window is stuck completely down!

When I press the switch I just hear a click nothing else. Need to get it up pronto as it's pi**ing down and getting dark!

Featured Replies

probably have to take the panel off and see if its stuck somewhere :( and maybe pull it up manually, maybe the motor's fooked............. dont take my word for it - I know shit all about cars but hope you get it sorted :(...

Try giving the black square box attached to the door a bit of a thump :)

some window motors have a slot in the housing so you can turn them with a screwdriver...dont know iff these do but worth a look:confused:

Undo the bottom of the door panel and reach in and unplug the little black box, open it up and look very closely for a dry joint, stick a bit of solder on it, put it back together and hey presto problem solved. I'v had that problem on previous zeds. HTH.

Cheers guys, have put the panel back on now as it was dark and couldn't see a thing.

Spent 2 hours dicking about with it in the rain am severly pi**ed off now, such a stupid thing as well. Wouldn't have been so bad if it was stuck closed!

Will give it a go in the morning, have taped it up with bin liners and left it on a mates drive for now.

Wiring up the motor directly, how exactly would I do that. Which two wires across what battery? Bit confused

The window motor only has 2 wires feeding it. +ve and -VE.

You just need to run two wires from any car battery to these two feeding the motor. if it doesnt work one way round then just reverse the wires. Dont hold the live feed on for too long tho or you will burn out the motor.

If this doesnt qwork then it will be the motor itself that is Fooked not the little black relay box.

Yep, what Andy says, its most likely the Regulator Relay and giving it a few knocks can solve problem until you can get a replacement. They suffer with dry solder joints.

Good stuff, looks like the relay is the problem, wish I'd read that before unbolting the motor from the door!

Looked on the Aus 300zx forum as well and seems a common problem with the solder joints.

On my way round my mates for round two, will let you know how it goes!

Thanks again for all the replies!

Halijeuah! :dance::dance::dance:

Took the door apart again, and realised I'd pulled the window off the runners. First job was to get that back on, then after that fiddled about with the relay/circuit board thing, nothing, so started putting it all back together and once I'd plugged the switch back in it worked! I'm taking all the credit but no idea what I did.

So thanks again for all the help, no way I'd have known where to look otherwise.

Just off to find a new relay now :D
