Okay so it's looking likely i'll be leaving the jap fraternity soon.

Its a sad state of affairs but due to my ex being heavily involved with the jap scene and me not being the greatest at dealing with break ups i've decided it may be time to move to pastures new and put it all behind me so i don't have to lay eyes on her again.

BUT i do still want to be involved on here and still attend the midland meets especially the ashby folville car meets so i need something pretty special to replace zena if she goes.

So aiming at the £15,000 mark what would you have?

Nick none of them:x:

But its what you like that matters wish you all the best for the future though what ever you choose from the bunch.

nick. dont take this the wrong way mate, but just because she is involved in the jap scene, doesnt mean you have to get shut of the zed. you still have lot of freinds on here, including me, that would like you to keep zena as youve not had it that long. dont let her rule your life mate :D

One of the TVR's or XKR - depending on wether you want a brutal or soft driving experience.

But please don't let an ex, have such a life changing affect on your life. You are your own person, you were here before you knew her and no reason you cant be here after !

It wouldn't mean i wouldnt see you guys again because i would still attend the zed meets just not the big ones like japfest/jae/etc

I can explain more but better via pm buddy

I just want to wipe out anything that reminds me of what i've been through the past 12 months.

I still love zeds but i just want to have the option of attending something where i know i'm not going to spend the whole time thinking i'm going to bump into her if things end for the worse

i can understand where your coming from nick. i think theres enough meets throughout the year without going to the main ones like jae, japfest ect. would be a shame for you to get shut, but its your decision at the end of the day.

I'll see how i feel when i finish prepping the car to sell. If i regain my love for it then i'll probably keep it but if i end up with a show car with the plans i had for it it means i'd end up missing out on a chance of winning any prizes where it matters.

We'll see anyway, my heads a mess, i've had a payrise and i'm feeling very low right now. Something new and a fresh start would help that plus i wouldn't be selling till i finished the car in august

I would ward away from the 8 series, unless you go for an 850csi, i love the 8's dearly but my god they are hard to work do anything with and the 24v v12 is just heavier with very similar output to the 4.0 and later 4.4 (ci badged cars) however the csi is the M sport version and is 48v and develops some 380bhp and comes with a proper gearbox.

As some alternatives -

Vauxhall Monaro what a monster

BMW M5 the e39 @400bhp can be bought for well within your budget

LOtus Esprit?

Legend has it that mercedes made some quick stuff at some point... :s lol

Nobles perhaps?? Just out of the price bracket but definatly worth tihnking about!!!

Bloody hell nick you must have been in love.

I was totally in love with her and still am and that's what hurts the most about it. Can't understand how you can going from being in love with someone to not being bothered to spare more than 3 days in 4 months with them.

As i say thought its not something i want to talk about publicly

Some great ideas there buddy damn more choice!!!!

hehe sorry mate. More my choices, depends what you want to spend. To be honest, for a quick saloon for good money the E39 540i can be picked up easily for 6k if you dont mind an auto (i mean a nice sport with pretty alloys and reasonable miles) Youve got a car that will do 0-60 in 6.1 seconds and return 30mpg on the mway. Comfortable and quiet and doesnt ever go wrong...

The E39 has been regarded as about the best car ever made world wide... V8's lack the feel in the corners due to their indirect steering and weight, 530i sport by far the best handling/performance other than the M5 but the 540i has got some grunt.

Depends what you want, quick but sensible, or really quick and daft? :D

Nick IF you sell the car then it will just make the experiences more bitter later on and make the situation seem even worse than it was. Yes I know where you're coming from re the meets etc but there are plenty of meets without JAE etc. Z008 and Zedfest for starters ;)

monaro for me. hope you get things sorted nick, but the girl in question isn't on here is she? so i dont see why you have to get rid of the zed, we all love you on here:p

I'd go for a mercedes (I wonder why....?:D) too.

For £15k, I'm assuming you want something that you can use every day. That rules out a TVR. The XKR is a good car but having driven the unsupercharged version, i was not impressed. Disappointed in fact, as I'd always loved the big cat. I ended up buying an SLK instead; I liked that so I've just bought a new-ish SLK350 and it is superb!!

Otherwise as Quavey says - an M5 would be good, and reliable too.

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Nick are you getting rid of the Zed because you do NOT LIKE the Zed and feel you would like to try another car?

Or are you getting rid of it to be clear of the past?

How much will you get for the zed?

Could you not buy a new toy and keep the Zed? That is if you still really do have a passion for it?

Id hate to think that you were selling up to try and erase the past. You can have a jap car without going to the "Jap Shows" keep it for local meets etc.

Just a suggestion!

Keep the Zed, but if I had to choose one from your original list I would go for the Mustang.

I would go for the Mustang, modern but still very retro(if you know what i mean:confused:).

For all you worrying i wouldn't be leaving here. In fact i'd probably be on here even more.

Saz, i couldn't afford a 2nd toy. I can only afford to run one high performance motor. I can't even afford a daily run around money will be that tight when i finally move out.

If things end (which is looking highly likely as i seem to be the only one trying to keep things going) then i want a clean start. Nothing to remind me of all the crap i've been through to end up with nothing again and the zed was part of the plan with her along with other things.

Idea is i'll be moving to rugby, 5 miles from work so one high performance car day to day would be viable. I currently drive 70 miles every day so i only drive the zed once twice a week.

Duffers, if i keep the car as i do now i look at it and think of her. I hate constant reminders of things going wrong. I need to start all over again and not being able to go to all the big shows without looking over my shoulder thinking i'm going to bump into her will just ruin the whole experience.

I've had a lot of fun with zeds and maybe one day i'll have another but not for a long time.

Audi S4 or S6?

Tempting but i like something that's just that little bit unique. That's why i loved the zed, people always asked me what it was.

Currently a v8 xkr/xk8 with an lpg conversion seems like the best deal. £8500-£10000 for a v8 coupe and £1700 for a gas conversion.

Wouldn't have the Jag cabrio, it's an old person's picnic car. Just don't like cabrios...even though I've owned two! LOL

Never really gotten into the current Mustang, actually prefer its predecessor....just doesn't look right to me, I think it's that rear 1/4 window that just doesn't look right and gives the side profile a crap look. TVR Tuscan is just plain UGLY. Looks like a giant wart. The only TVRs I'd have are the Cerbera, Chimera and Griffith of which I am quite a fan of.

For me, it would be a toss up between the BMW 850Ci (although would rather try and find an 840 with manual trans...not sure the V12 was available in manual..?..and the V8 does sound better) and the Jaguar XKR hard-top. Have to say though, in standard trim, the earlier XKRs look a little boat-like. Later years were better when they fitted more aggressive wheels, skirts and bumper extensions. That's when the car really started to look good. The 8-series was one of my 3 choices of GT car when I was in the process of hunting for a Z. Not sure I'd have one OVER a Z though after being quite happy with the way they look and perform. They lack the all-important t-tops too which is why I was left with the Z32 and Gen 4 Z28 Camaro (would have fitted supercharger, suspension and others bits...transforms a crap car into a good one....I just loved the engine and looks). I chose the Z32...because it already was a good car. :)

mate for 15 bags i'd buy the hottest russian wife and go to one of the meets in the zed your ex will be so jealous she will beg for forgivness and you can laugh and walk away back to your house of vodka and naughty russian rumpty

thought it might cheer you up a bit or you could just buy the mustang

did think about the BMW 850i when i was in the dark days with my zed!

dan.
