Age/Rust

Hi,

I am considering buying a 300ZX and i was just wondering about the age of the car, i am looking at a 92/93 model. How are other peoples car holding up for rust etc as the car will be 9-10 years old (my 1992 vaux astra is starting to rust bad!)

Thanks

Barry

I have a 91 import with no rust. I think Z's probably started off with better paint and rust protection than an Astra (no offense intended).

1989 imported in 1999. Maybe a tiny spot on a seam or two and a paint chip here and there but otherwise wonderful.

I did read a scare story that the underseal is less on J models than UK but my dealer had a poke underneath and said it was fine.

Did he check the underseal at the same time? biggrin.gif

When i got my import de-cated i gave my mate a few tins of underseal and told him to blast the underneath with it. He gave me the tins back and said it has pleanty of factory underseal on it so I guess the jap spec must have had it done from new. I think if a zeds gonna rust then it would be showing it by now so if you find a good one chances are it will stay like that for as long as you keep it clean and scratch free.

Yeah! But if you leave it out in the sun too long it'll perish and crack like an old bucket!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Some JAP cars arent undersealed, however Nissans are always undersealed.
