The Heaters in my Zed have stopped working, they will only bolw freezing cold air. has anybody come across this before/know how to fix it. i've been told the fuses are all ok but to be fiar i havent checked myself, also the ambient temp gauge is displaying -86 ?????

check if the heater matrix pipes are hot first, if its displaying -86 its probably a eletrical climate fault. theres a way to reset the climate ecu by holding the auto button down i think but i cant remmember. do a search.

Sounds like a blockage to me. I would be tempted to put some sort of flushing additive in the water and get it really warm and circulated, leave overnight and then give the system a good flushing. Also I know its a bit tight at the back of the engine where the heater pipes connect to the engine but make sure they are not kinked anywhere, and if the heater still does work after flushing, take both pipes off the engine connections, and flush using a hose pipe, obviously not too fiercely and see if you have a good flow through.

I'm pretty sure showing -86 is a failed ambient air temperature sensor - the one behind the bumper. An airlock wouldn't cause the unit to show a constant & incorrect temp.

so what do i need to do to get it to blow nice warm air, not to bothered what the sensor is showing, just don't want icicles hanging off my nose when i'm driving up the M1 listening to Moyles in the mornings. Any ideas???????????????

first thing, see here the connector's probably come loose, or corroded... once this is sorted, you should be displaying the correct temperature, so that's that sorted - can't say it will cure the problem though, but you never know.

Once the display's working, and the ECU has all the correct sensor inputs, if you've still got the problem you can start ooking for something physically wrong.

the cold air problem was air lock for me..try refilling the coolant on a steep incline (nose up) with rad cap off and rad bleed screw out it makes the bubbles/air at the back of the engine rise to the rad...a pin-hole in the matrix or one of the other small turbo cooling pipes can cause it to come back time and time again...check if you have a puddle under the car after a run...if so the coolant is being pushed out by expanding air/pin hole opening up under pressure
