Cruise control

When doing a manual conversion can you keep the cruise control to work on the manual box?

CC works on a vacuum within the throttle body. Has nothing to do with the transmission. Takes an MPH, RPM and uses a solenoid/vacuum to operate the throttle to suit the speed.

If the system was electric like on a lot of new cars, then I think it would be a case of having to fit a different ECU.

Has anyone who has done a manual conversion kept the cruise control and if so what was involved? As Funky Si says did they need a different ECU for it to work? Any other parts required for it to continue to operate?
