why does someone crashing into me increase my insurance premiums

someone without insurnace reversed out of a junction straight into the side of my car, it happened about 3 years ago, but i still have to tell insurance companies when im getting a quote (dont i???)

it pisses me off that im being penalised for something that i had no control over whatsoever, i didnt even claim from my insurance, i went through the motoring industry beraue and they took him to court and claimed back from him what i got paid

boils my fookin piss :headvswal :headvswal

its all down to statistics. Its something to do with if your involved in ANY accident, your apparantly more likely to be involved in another accident within 5 years..... or something like that

totally agree allan  same thing happend in my work truck and i look like a bad risk now with a clean lisence and no accidents in over 20 years so yea ime mad aswell :headvswal

when someone drove into me unisured, hit and run, i paid for the repairs myself as it would have upped my premiums for years to come, insurance is a joke, its cheaper and easier not to bother with it

Dont the insurers ask you for what Insurance claims you have made in the last xx year...in which case, since you didnt claim on your insurance then there is nothing to tell them.?

no they ask "any acidents, claims or convictions"

no they ask "any acidents, claims or convictions"

ahh ..yeh.

What about checking if it actually makes a diff, do quote with and without. If its non-fault then i dont see how it can.

iff its non-fault its ok but it stays on file dave  thats the prob

so because i had an accident but never claimed and it was not my fault i should declare it?

But stella was saying he thought it increases his premiums.

When I had a company car some scouse cnut broke in to it. (Apologies to non-cnut scousers ;))

This had to be repaired under the insurance of course.

A year later I got rid of the company car and had to insure my own.

I had to tell them about the claim and was told it goes on my file and does affect my premium!!

Apparently, ANY claim at all will affect you some how! :smash:

it could do iff you changed companys, in my case because ive been with the same for a while it was ok but it kinda puts you off changing if you end up being not happy with your exsisting one knowing you have to start trying to convince them it was,nt your fault to obtain the best rates

They generally ask have you had any claims or convictions in the last 5 years regardless of blame or fault. So basically even if you were hit you have to declare it and it will put your premium up. However if you didn't notify the insurers and there is no record of it then you don't have to. If you lie about this you could face having your insurance cancelled or if you make a claim not being paid.

Some little knob in a ringed Golf GTi had lost it coming down the lane i live on. he was sideways with the O/S front on the 1ft verge and the rear end scrubbing the hedgerow on the oppersite side. I'd just come out of the drive and stopped. Whilst I was deaperately trying to find reverse he hit me and ended up with his N/S wheel 3" from my windscreen. He reversed off my bonnet and fooked off leaving his front bumper and number plate and a very fubar'd car.

Turned out to be a ringer because Police went to house where the silver golf with that reg was registered and found it in mint condition parked outside the house. the car was from Swansea and i live in North Wales. He couldn't have got back there in 2 hours never mind fix it. + the bumper and bits left behind where not of a mint car. I pay extra as a result and it in down as a blame worthy accident because they couldn't trace the third party.

Really Fooks me right off

Had the same thing mate, my 300 was hit and the renewal on my other car went up, I asked them why and was told I was more of a liability since I was hit, seems the only way of not being a liability is to keep my car on the drive - f'in joke!!

Is it really suprprising why so many people don't bother being bent over by insurance companies

That's right......

.....but if you're lucky they will only ask for the last 3 years (like Admiral). Although most companies ask about the last 5.

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

check this out..

to insure myself on a 1.5 mazda in cyprus for one month it cost me 5 quid....... 5 bloody quid crazy compared to this.

Insurance companies are LEGAL THIEVES..............

ive submitted my details to kieth micheals, but again ive had to tell them about my accident, its a fookin piss take

I had a no blame accident in the Z a couple of years back, there was no question as to whos fault it was and their insurance paid up without question.

the next time i went to re-insure the car i noticed the premium had gone up, I then got some quotes of the net, some listing the bump and some not it made a difference to every quote the lowest quote was 280 without the bump and 370 with.

 Fookers why should you get blamed for others crap driving. ( and it was a woman, who most insurance companies seem to think are a lower risk  )
