my boss had his audi in the main dealer's for a service today, he went and collected it and paid for it, then they told hi that something had blew off the roof and dented the rear arch on his car (A3), its rippled all the arch as if it has been hit by another car or dragged along a blloard or something, he drove away in a mood

they have said they will put it in their bodyshop to repair, but he has now decided the least they could do is not charge him for the service, has he got a leg to stand on by asking them to do this, after all the car is mint and is well looked after, it has never had any panel damage by him

he is pissed off

It would certainly be the decent thing for them to do, whether they will do or not i don't know.

accidents happen and they accepted fault which was the right thing to do. They could have easily said they never done it which lets be honest, many garages would probably do which is what happened to my mate with his brand new VW Eos :(

It will be covered under their trade insurance while its in their possession.

It would possibly be the correct moral thing to do, however legally i should not they think they have an obligation NOT to charge for the service work, your boss could ask but i should not think he can expect

Hi,

I took my old Z31 in to have the cambelt changed and when I went to collect it, I noticed a protruding lump in the bonnet!

Luckily I saw it before paying and the garage admitted fault.Apparently an airconditioning fan had come on in the workshop and as the struts on the bonnet were a bit weak, it slammed shut onto a wrench that the mechanic had left on the top of the engine!

I was annoyed, as the car had been resprayed only a few months before and the bodywork was excellent.

They quickly had the bonnet repaired by the same bodyshop that I had used, so that the paint would match up...But still charged me for the cambelt change!

Cheerz,

Jez.

At least they owned up to it and have offered to put it right FOC. That's better than when I collected my Rav from my local garage after an MOT to find that someone had scraped the rear n/s bumper.

The b@stards denied it repeatedly and since I could not prove anything, there was nothing else I could do

As for the service, they could offer it FOC as a goodwill gesture but they are under no obligation to do so - after all they have done the work your boss asked them to do and as such are within their rights to expect payment.

Hopefully he will get the car repaired to a high standard and they will give him a decent courtesy car whilst it is in the body shop.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
