Since having a coolant change on my '91 tt, my blowers now fail to give out heat, also, there is now a gurgling sound constantly coming from engine, this is obviously an airlock in the cooling system but i really dont know how to fix this. Can anyone guide me through this? cheers.

you need a pressure tester that goes on your rad cap and undo the bleed screw slightly at the top of the rad, pump it up until the air lock comes out, then simply top it back up, make sure the thermostat is open when you top it up though.

Jack the front of the car up. Remove rad cap and the top bleed screw on other side of rad and keep topping up the water until there are no more bubbles.

I have the same problem, changed my plenium and the front water pipe and now i have no heater eaither

Where can you ge the pressure sester from????

Mine also does a funny sounding gurgle, spounds a bit like a bop bop bop. my mate has the same with his 05 fiesta. he a coolent probs????

btw - dont drive the car with this problem, you could cook the head gaskets.

It could also mean you have a leak and its drawing in air. Also check the Radiator cap as well to make sure the seal is in good condition or it wont be pressurising properly.

Also.... Your issue is definatly the cooling system, but for the benefit of others - Gurgling is a common issue with the AIV system, which could be mistaken for a problem with the cooling system.

hhhmmmm all the pressure seems fine now and the water has not dropped any.

But i still have a poor heater, the flow to the matrix is hot and the one out is luke warm???? could it be electrical??

The AIV makes sence as it is comming from the driver side wheel arch. Can all that be cleaned out??? I dont really want to replace it.

I also have a slight blow and the smell of exhaust fumes, could that have something to do with the AIV

do you get gurglling when the engine is running?

I get it when i turn the engine off, which you can only hear inside the car. But mines a series 4, so i didnt think they had AIV's?!?

I did have an air lock, which i thought i got out as my heater is now working again.

Im still getting the gurgling noise when i switch the engine off. Doesnt sound like its coming from the engine bay, but the heater matrix. Im loosing no coolant and my floor is drier than a camels hoof........

Anyone got any ideas?

Not sure if this has been answered, but yes the AIV can be removed completetly.

Sorry that was in response to Car MAd's "I don't want to replace them, can I strip them out instead" comment.
