Hi guys and girls .

welcome to my world lol, ive been having this for 4 years on and off now, seems to be my idle valve that causes bad running on mine, try cleaning the connectors on it, also chack all other electrical connectors for green corrosion

What year is your Zed?

Auto or manual?

Try cleaning all electric connections, from fuel pump to rad, (has the ptu been changed to a series 2?) had a similar issue when i bought my Zed. After taking some advice from this site, i cleaned every single elec connection (inc coil packs) with contact cleaner and a fine wire brush. Been working fine ever since.

Hope this helps you mate.

ah yeah sorry guys ment to put the spec up but my heads spinning wondering what it could be , its a 93 TT Auto, ive cleaned some of the connectors but its too dark now and to be honest i dont know where half of them are or what they are theres so many lol , if it was a 200sx i could do it with my eyes closed lol

think i'll try your trick tomorrow pedroZ, cheers for that mate , and thanks also Stella

it also started to cough and splutter when i started it this morning and this afternoon the revs was bouncing around under the 1000rpm mark , its almost like its flooding it self when starting :(

first sensor i would clean is the yellow one on the water elbow at the front of the engine ,there is 2 sensors on it unplug the yellow one and clean out all the green cr@p in it ,use a deep plug socket and remove the sensor intself from the water elbow and give the bottom of it a clean aswell , unplug battery for a couple of hours to reset ecu and fingers crossed , i was having an eratic idle on mine and it started to overfuel and it was the ecu water temperature sensor that was at fault on mine

hope this helps mate

cheers Tommy,

i'll give that 1 a try tomorrow, ive cleaned the top but only spray contact cleaner in it but this time i'll use a small wire brush on it to , i'll clean the bottom aswell,

Did it make yours miss further up the rev range too ?

cheers Tommy,

use wonder wheels to clean...works wonders!

not sure it just ran very lumpy and was constantly trying to catch revs

i used a small piece of sand paper to get right into the connectors ,using a bit of your girls emery board works well as well

if that doesnt work i would do the same with the ptu, coilpack connectors and injectors ,its a bit of a process of elimination i,m afraid

Check the yellow connector to the rear of the passengers side of the plenium, water temp is located on the top metal pipe in the centre of the cam covers, also have a look at the MAF under the panel in front of the rad, get a small file set, ideal for cleaning the connectors and a can of ambersol (electrical contact cleaning spray), check that you are getting spark to all coilpacks, and clean em too.

Basically any connection u can clean, clean it. Check they are all seated correctly, as just one slightly off and it will mess things up.

right i been out to the car and started it, sat inside to try and keep warm putthe fan heater on 1st setting and was watching the temp gauge which was on the white line because car was cold but then after about a minute and half the gauge just shot up to the halfway mark but the air coming out the heaters was still stone cold, so i left it to idle , the temp gauge never moved when the air was warm the gauge was still in same spot and stayed there til i turned the car off about 20mins later , never overheated or anything , like eveyone said water temp sensor faulty or could it relate to something else ?

the sensor next to the yellow one is the temp gauge sensor that might be a bit dodgy try cleaning that one as well (the yellow one is the ecu temp sensor )
