I still can't make my mind up on these. Part of me thinks they are really tacky, but part of me thinks they are kinda retro cool. Not something I'd fit anyway, but can see the appeal.

I remember seeing a Woolsey Hornet with an illuminated badge on the grille.

i think are great, but grossly overpriced!

but then again so were my 99 spec lights lol

How hard can they be to make your self??

If i wanted them(which i think i do) Id have a go at converting the oridional pannel

There's a guy in the U.S that already makes them, sells them via ebay and on US forums.

so were these optional extras on the cars when they were brought out?

Regarding the LED rear lights. Clear Corners change a fortune for LED converted rear lamps. Now, I like the LED technology in stop lamps and especially indicators, but I am sure there's a cheaper way of doing it. The ClearCorners LED tail lights just don't look right when illuminated. The arrays don't seem to sit right and they don't seem to stretch the entire way round the bezel. So when illuminated, they don't have the gradual curved edge that standard lights do, they are a rectangle. Now if the arrays were bigger, then this wouldn't happen. Just a thought.

I really ought to get some stock lights and get my mate to convert them as he's an electronics engineer. I'm sure that if a good PCB stripboards were sourced this whole thing should be quite cheap and easy to do?

There was the versions on ebay recentlty, but they had the same issue you described above.

There are several threads here, on 3zc and aus300 just in the past week with different people experimenting with creating these.

So it looks like there will be more versions on the market soon.

I too have questioned my friend who does robotics and is an electrical geniouse about converting the lights, will let you all know

Certainly easy enough to do - just a bit long winded. Saw a post a while back where a chap converted all his rear lights on a Prelude to leds. All he did was to use pcb stripboard cut to shape with lots and lots of surface mounted leds.

You could be really cheeky and use tri colour leds instead then you have a panel that can be red, blue or green at the flick of a switch!

Illuminating the panel is on my list of things to do but EL panels long enough are silly money over here. I may well have a go at this.

They are :hurl: :hurl:

I'll be getting the eBay ones on mine eventually I hope.:cool:

god, the ones where you can see the led's look terrible!!

Yep, nasty. Thats not the ones the guy is making on that thread though.

I used to have an original JDM green illuminated centre panel. Absolutely hated the ruddy thing. Looked cheap and tacky. So I sold it for a considerable amount. Which was nice. All IMHO o'course ;)

Well I have to say I really like the middle panel where 300ZX lights up. I only wanted it in red the and finally found one on ebay last month.

Just need my car back now to put it on

Datascan, Conzult, ECUTalk and a few others

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

i have a green original nissan one in perfect condition including the important electrical box....£100 + post

i was lucky when i bought my car. had it allready. now i need the 99 spec rear lights to follow ^^

Mine has the factory fitted green centre panel and I love it. :D

AFAIK it was a factory option on domestic market only. Not available in Europe. Not sure about the green only. I thought red was also available..maybe wrong though

I love all the parts on that clear corners website! I like the led lit up centre panel. I think the standard ones look a little yellowy when on. They are soo dear though. I'm sure they used to do a rear light that was clear top and bottom.
