Theres a s14 in japenese performance mag this month with a 300zx vg30dett engine fitted with a big single turbo conversion .I didnt think it was possible with a v6 .The exhaust manifold must be a work of art. :)

Its not the V6 thats the problem (the Z31 was a Single turbo V6 for example) its the room in the Z32 engine bay thats the problem, although there are a couple of Z32 Single turbo conversions out there.

S14 enginebay may allow for more room than the Z32, in particular around the back of the engine.

What turbo is it running, any dyno figures ?

Why would someone go with a single turbo when you can get more out of a TWIN TURBO??? One turbo can produce 320 to the wheels and 2 of them can produce if my math is correct 640RWHP. Single turbo I do not get.

I agree. Ultimatly a Single turbo setup can produce more power than a Twin setup, ideal for Dyno queens or 1/4 mile only though. But if your only aiming at 500hp there's no point suffering with the extra lag and cost of fabrication.

Do you know what happened to it ?

As far as I know he dropped a Skyline engine in it and tyrned it into a drag car.

I disagree, when you look at the newer single turbos nowadays you can get some mental spooling turbo's

With the V6 spooling 1 big turbo it would not only produce more power but be less laggy, obviously the problem is space and pipe work but in theory its a sound idea, you look at the skylines and supras which all run twins in standard form, they all tend to go to single's for better power and more important power delivery :)

Mate of mine has a R33 GTR with the T04Z single turbo and it hits full boost at around 2800 RPM and pulls to the redline and makes around 600 AWHP which is mental for a fast spooling turbo

On Straight 4/6's with modern turbo designs, true the difference is minimal once you get into larger setups (and cheaper). But I'd still say that with a V-engine the twin setup will have superior flow, becuase of all the extra pipework needed for a single setup.

Surly people go for the single turbo on the straight 6's because its cheaper and less complicated. Surly two medium sized turbos will cost more than one large...

your right but also the power delivery is totally different.

in an ideal world with as much space in the zed engine bay then a single would be perfect but as theres just no room then twins works best

but would the air flow in the manifolds of the single turbo be different as one side of the engine will have much longer pipe work e.g if turbo is on right hand side of the block then the left will flow slower and have to cover greater distance makin it uneven?

Are you talking exhaust manifold or intake?

If you went single turbo you would go single inlet plenum, there is room in the zed bay if you do some serious reworking of where things live

in an ideal world you would bring both manifolds to the front and sit the turbo in the middle at the front so it would make it even flow.

also yes idealy you would want a single plenum design but you could get away with not having one and just fit say an intercooler which in inlet and 2 outlets :)
