Hi all, just wanted some advice on my V5.

I bought the car on Christmas eve (2007) but it did not have the V5 as the guy was going to use the car for drifting so he never applied for it. I applied for the V5 and it arrived this morning but it doesn't have a model/Type on it just make Nissan, it also says 4 door saloon and 2000cc. When i filled in the request form i stated it was a 300ZX TT, Cylinder Capacity 2960.

The reg number and the vin numbers all match as well as the colour so does anyone have any idea's why it just says Nissan, 4 door saloon, 2000cc?

Is this just a mistake by the DVLA?

Is it a Jap import ? The details for many of those are wrong.

Sounds like they are being muppets

I applied for one for my supra and everything is correct on it.

supra is a uk car tho...

Yes its a Jap, was imported 2005 with 3 former keepers. I would have thought with 3 former keepers someone would have rectified the details by now or do you think its been left for cheaper tax insurance purposes lol.

Fill out section 7 with the correct details, keep section 10 for your records and post the rest to DVLA. They will ammend the V5 and post you back your new log book.

If they do need to check the vehicle they'll drop you a line asking to make an appointment at your nearest DVLA office where an inspector guy will just check over it and make sure the VIN etc match.

Nothing serious - dont panic :)

I think Mitsubishi built the engines for the Ford Ranger in the early eighties before that they used Mazda engines. (might be wrong lol)

No offence to the welsh but the people at DVLA know nothing about cars.

My current zed has an engine size of 29998cc on the log book.

The chasis is down as GC-2 not GCZ.

We registered an FTO at work, and dvla decribed it as a moped!

My last zed was blue, dvla registerd it as a red Z31!!!

I tried to get it changed but didnt want it recorded as a colour change as it had never changed colour and i was correcting their mistake, i had to go to the dvla office, have the car inspected, show the "inspector" (a girl with a clipboard) that it was blue, pop the bonnet and boot to show her look, no red here, then i pulled up the carpet to show more blue, she ticked some boxes and i got a new log book.

A fortnight later i HPI'd it to check they had done it right and it was all clear except one thing dvla put it down as a colour change, idiots.

Thank god it blew up and i got my money back from the dealer on it cos id of never of sold it with a hpi report like that!

Ford ranger and mazda B seris same motors.

Ford and Mazda platform share (mazda has a financial interest inford)

Nissan,LDV and Renault do too (well renault own nissan)

Rover and Honda Used too.

As far as i know Mitsubishi platform share on commercial vehicles with Mercedes Benz on vehicles such as the Canter / Atego etc

And they platform share some of their cars with Volvo like the S40 and carisma.

I know there is others but i cant think of them.
