Something i will be deffinatly be doing on the next zed, getting rid of that horrid stone guard.

But, what is the bloody stuff made from? can it just be sanded off/rubbed back so that a fresh smooth paint can go over the top, or is there more to it?

How much should i expect to have it done?

I know MrFungal himself has had it done, but did they tell you how they did it Si?

Cheers in advance

Nick

the rear bar can be sanded back by hand,be careful using power tools or the heat build up will make it a sticky mess

Yes, because I did part of the rear bumper.

The bumpers are actually a finish that's moulded into the plastic itself. It's only a few hundred microns thick, so smoothing the plastic off there won't really effect structural integrity. You have to be very careful though as you can sand down low spots and make it loose it's continuity. Luckily, the body shop knew what they were doing and did a good job. Front bumper takes some time on the TT models.

Sides are different. The sides have a bitumen stone guard on them which sands back very easily. Don't sand it off completely, just smooth it off so the finish is even. You still need some protection there.

Makes a nice clean subtle difference. The stone guard is about the only standard feature of the car that I really dislike. Especially noticable on dark coloured cars. Well worth doing.

Cheers Si.

wont be too fussed about the front as ill be changing it to an AbFlug type 4, but i have no intention of putting on skirts. I may modify the rear to it suits a single exhaust like Leigh did, but the stone guard has just got to go!

Nooooooooo don't put a single exhaust on. Single exhausts are for 4 cylinder non-sports cars.

I was waiting for that!!!!

Its got a kaikimoto twin exit on it at the moment, and it just doesnt look right. If i had the money i know exactly which exhaust i would put on it. And im fairly sure its the one youd put on yours as well Si.

Take a guess.....

Billyboat. Yes. :)

You could get custom back boxes made. Wouldn't cost as much and would certainly look a lot better than a single exit.

Apart from the single exit that Leon made, ive never been a fan of custom made exhausts. Ive never seen one that has "factory" quality that you get with someone like BB.

My old man has a GTO with custom pipes, and the baffles rattle like a *******. it sounds aweful
