I can give you the number of a man with experiance, he does come on here from time to time but ringing him is prob better.

spending money on internals dont mean the cars gona increase power. There is a good chance as they tend to displace less/more area or are just plain lighter. But its a but.

Internals take the power produced by the turbos distributed by the heads.

So the heads is my bottleneck right now. Everything else is in place - after 2-3 years and a fortune.

I would be more than happy........using my private mail??

Get him to change valve material then? New larger ones in inconel and larger valve seats to match?

Yea, but there is more than that, springs, cams, porting......

i'm here :)

here you go

http://www.importpartspro.com/st4vgheni30.html

remove your heads, bolt these on and get it remapped and you will make the extra power ;) the mapping should also see your turbos boost earlier with these cams be it a little rough on the idle :)

what turbos are you running buddy?

Kirbz

agreed, kyle at IPP will look after you, and in your position it would be much easier to to buy the whole package

Thanks a lot, these heads make sense. Have you tried these yourself, or do you know anyone who has?

I have burned lots of money on parts not proven, so I like to be careful.

I am now increasing from Turbonetics 2x420 BHP to 2x530 BHP.

Turbinehouse is the same in both versions, the compressor delivers 20% more air. Boost max 2,0 bar with the 420-turbos, probably down to 1,7 with the new ones. I know a workshop that can port the turbos, the exhaust-flow will be increased as backpressure now starts to exceed the turbopressure from 6000 rpm. Exhaustflow can increase by 10-20%, and that is what I need to run up to 7000 rpm without backpressure problems. The front cooler has a capacity of 1000 BHP, so that won`t be any bottleneck.

do you have a mod's list?

Main ingredients:

Pentroof exhaust manifolds

Racing cats

Turbonetic T04B/46 - BB-5 KKK10 (420 BHP each). To be increased to 530 BHP

Border racing kit - 850 CC

3-plates ATS carbonclutch 1200 Nm capacity

2 petrol pumps: Original + 1 extra type Bosch, max 370 l/min.

Double petrol pipes and 500 l. Filter

Front intercooler. Air capasity 975 HP

Engine Management : MOTEC

JE - Forged Pistons

EAGLE - H Beam Con-Rod Set (aircraft-steel type SAE 4340)

i also think your 850's wont be enough for a genuine 800 bhp!! you need to have some safety built into the injectors and not run them over 80% possibly 90% if its mapped very very well and you have plenty of guages to monitor the car ;)

with regards to the link i sent you, yes he is proven and one of the best builders of zeds in the world, i bought a full stage 5 engine including the same heads of the one in the link :)

This is very valuable advice, also regarding the 850 injectors. I have looked for 1000 cc, but can not find any. Can you help ?

Will stage 4 on heads make the car drivable for the street?

As I see it, the Tomei cams and non-hydraulic lifters will make the engine

run on high RPM when idle. Is this correct or not?

Do you know the maximum BHP you get with stage 4 and with stage 3?

(I consider stage 3 as more appropriate for a 800-850 BHP-engine)

Hi Rune,

Yes as long as its mapped well it should drive fine, it may idle a little lumpy but hey if you want a highly tuned car then its something you will hve to put up with.

I would get the stage 4 one if i had your spec car ;) bhp wise its difficult to say but with stage 4 you should see a good bhp increase as well as helping to spool up your big turbos!!

Injector wise it may be worth trying the likes of RC as they can do custom injectors, i would go for something like 1200cc ones rather than 1000cc ones as you still want enough in them just in case you say want to run race fuel and want to increase the boost to 2 bar etc then at least you will have the fueling to do so :)

Thanks Mike, very good.

Have you been driving the stage 4-car for a long time ?

i actually bought a stage 5 engine but it has his stage 4 heads on.

i never actually had it running as i changed my priorities and had to stop doing the project.

magnum5 on here has my engine, turbo set up and clutch etc so his car will be a monster when running :)

Rune, I am flying over to Norway at Easter time. Will you be around? I would love to see your Z. I will be staying in Sandefjord, which isn't too far from Oslo I don't think.

  • Author

Hi, that would be noce.

Sandefjord is only 60 miles from Oslo.

Easter is from 17. March this year, less than 2 months from now. My car is in a workshop in Lofoten, that is quite a bit of distance from Oslo. There is a chance that the car is not completed by then. Anyway it would be nice to see you, give me a call when your`re around, my number is +47 984 01812. Will you be bringing the white ZX?

No I am flying over. My girlfriend and I wanted to get away for the Easter and neither of us have been to Norway. We are taking the Ferry to Sweden too for a few days. I'll be flying 21st March.

I didn't realise Oslo was 60miles, I thought it was less. I'm actually flying into Sandefjord airport.

Not a bad choice. Remember that Easter in Norway is a ski-ing period, it is very quite in town centers. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday shops are closed, some days also pubs and bars. In Sweden, they have less "red" days when everything is closed. Sweds are less "religious" in that respect.

I recommend Park Rica Hotel in Sandefjord, it`s very good, they have everything. You should take a trip by bus og train to Oslo, it takes 1,5 hour.

Oslo is much larger and more lively. Call me if you come, my wife and I can guide you in town. If my car is ready, I can bring you back to Sandefjord.

If you have a mailadress, I can send you some pictures of my project.

Rune

Yeah, we want a quiet time. Only going to Sweden for the day. I believe the Color line ships take only 2hrs to get to Strömstad. Rest of the time we'll be in Sandefjord.

Yes, I think we may take a trip to Oslo. Will be in touch with you.

Thanks :)

No, he means email....hence the email address. 'Ping' or 'Pinging' is just an IT term for connect. ;)
