Hi all!

I'm in the market for a 300zx and I went to see one yesterday. It was a good price and all seemed ok on it, boost was good, no smoke, drove well, all except the oil pressure gauge didn't work and for some reason the auto-box diagnostic thing didn't seem to want to work, unless my mechanic m8 wasn't doing it right!

Should I be worried about the oil pressure gauge seeing as other than that the engine seemed ok? And would there be a reason for the diagnostic to just not work?

Cheers all.

very usual problem with the zed is a faulty oil pressure sender although saying that i would have the vendor fix it before you buy - should be easy to get done at nissan

regards,

its usually a clogged sender hole, just clear it with a small wire, most of us get aftermarket gauges anyway, the nissan ones are crap

ok, well not to bothered tbh. As I say it seemed to drive well and everything seemed to work.

Oh while I think of it, is there a way to tell if the HICAS is working? I'm sure its covered elsewhere so I'll do a search regardless, but if someone is willing to post up.... :D

just check the steering, if its nice and light and the fluid is still pink-red then it should be fine.
