After having a few beers i decided to ask my son (16) and his mate a few random questions

1. What is the capital of France.? Belgium and where is France!!!

2. What is the capital of USA? one answers New York and the other says "i know this one, Mississippi!!!

3. As i role around i ask who is Prime minister? One answwered correctly, the other said the government, then said Gordon Brown was a chef. lol

4 What is a Euro? One says its American money, the other cracked up and got the right answer.

5. What is a differential on a car? One shrugs his shoulders and admits has no idea, the other says "two things that are different"

What hope is there for the world

lol lol lol :slap:

Thats the British education system for you, Not enough general knowledge being taught

You disowned them, right? ;)

Kids are thick arses, the problem is that they don't think they are.

Shame its funny for everyone else though :p

You are the weakest link..... Goodbye!

in all honesty you cant blame the kids, the onus is on the adults (schools) to teach the kids, im sorry the fault is with the system!

But the kids don't listen these days because they can get away with (literally in some cases) murder! Teachers have no power anymore to make the little shits listen and they know that. Unfortunately they are destroying every other kids future in their class when they disrupt lessons. A few bad eggs spoiling it for everyone, more and more the case these days...

yes and thats the systems fault, not the kids!

Don't blame the teachers though! Blame the PC do gooders :xxx: Bring back the cane, or at least give teachers some way of handing out discipline!

Everyone was up in arms when that woman got 30 days imprisonment for allowing her kids to play truant... I was too! She should have got 12 months!

aye got to agree with that!

Oh and drop the age of prosecution to 12, that will bring a stop to the little *******s antics :wack:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Wouldn't want to cause any offense to anyone on here, but its not about the school or the teachers or the community. If the parents are strict enough, the kids will listen. I turned out ok ( i think!) and its not becsause of my teachers, most of whom were thick as pig sh*t themselves!! Its because my parents took the time to teach me stuff themselves and instilled it in me that an education is the way forward!!

I also strongly believe that this is the reason you see alot of ethnic minorities rising in high end jobs/education - they, like my parents realised that without educating yourself, your not worth sh*t in this country! and you'll never get REAL respect...not the type of 'respect' all these chavs/wanabe gangters THINK they have...

Ok, rant over! All IMHO of course...

I agree with you entirely APART from your comment re the teachers - the only reason they seem to be crap is because they have no control over the kids they are teaching, through no fault of their own. How the hell are you supposed to teach a group of kids something when a small handfull insist on distrupting the whole lesson? Teachers didn't become teachers without going through extensive training....

100% behind you Andy !

My daughter graduated last October as a primary teacher, and is working supply at the moment.

I know how much work she put in over the years to get there, and she grafted ! Very proud of her ! ;)

She had a class of 5 year olds today, and was told to **** off 3 times, and called a cow once !

To be honest, dont know how she does it ?

Alan..............

well she should have the right to give them a damn good clip around the earhole.

If i ever have children and they disresepct a teacher like that, i would be annoyed at the teacher if they did not give them a swift one around the earhole and then when they got home they would get a harder one off me!

It never did me any harm

100% behind you Andy !

Every credit to your daughter Alan! ANYBODY who still wants to be a teacher these days obviously believes they can be the one to make the difference, whether its to 30 kids or just one - the 'one' is the person that will make the difference to future society! I hope her recent experiences haven't put her off, my dad was a teacher and leaving was his biggest regret, the satisfaction of helping a child on their way to being a grown, responsible adult with their own but balanced opinion was more than you could get from any other job. Teachers deserve a LOT more respect IMO and the current situation is not their fault....

I think I came across wrong - I have the utmost respect for teachers who are actually good at what they do, and there are more than a few of them out there including close friends and family! The ones I was referring to were the ones who literally read out of a book and often got things wrong and had to be corrected by the STUDENT who did the reading beforehand!! The ones who really came across as being there for the paycheck and were clearly regretting choosing the profession!

As for misbehaving kids - back to my point about parents! It all links in with chavs/yob culture/benefits lifestyle/call it what you will...bit annoying! And I would say bring back flogging for the chump causing the disruption but then in today's climate, that would just bring back a humiliating punishment for the teacher in question by any and all, not to mention they'd probably get 'capped' by the student and his mates on their way home!!

i agree fully with you, ive have bought up my son well, he is very respectful, and has good beliefs and not into violence or doing any drugs, For months i kept hassling him to do his homework, do the work and get his head down in class. Then he can leave school. This is all ok at home, but when he is in school, if he didnt like the teacher, which most he didnt, he woundnt do what they said, so just mess about.

Now he is in 6th form as he dosent know what career path he wants, got okay grades, not good enough in my mind!! Should have worked harder as i told him. But sorry kid, DAD BANK is shut for some reason. Go out and earn a living like everyone has too.

Ive got enough money agro in keeping my zed alive lol

Definitely. I think the vicious spiral of no respect starts when, and how shall I describe them, the 'crap parents' - yes, when it's the 'crap parents' who are having the most kids! Each of those children is then at a huge disadvantage compared to a family where the parents spent time with their children. Taking kids out for a walk in the park might seem like nothing but it stimulates all the senses rather than just the ears n eyes in front of the telly.

I could go on (wife=teacher, m/inlaw = teacher) but work beckons unfortunately!

Simon.

WTF Are teenagers on!!!!!

Drugs.....

I think they done OK,.....well if compared to George Bush.
