Can anyone tell me if there is anything difficult about fitting de-cats to a n/a? I have done some searches and found one post talking about blocking the hole for a sensor?

Not sure what this it for?

As far as I can see it pretty much bolts on and then just tie the cat heat sensors up out of the way?

 

Is there anything more to it?

I'm sure if I ask one the guys at work nicely it wil come well within the emissions boundary. ;)

Iv'e just fitted de-cats and de-cat back system, takes longer to get the old zorst off than putting the new one on, the holes in the cat pipes your talking about are the Air intakes, to cool the cats, you wont need these and they can be bypassed.

The de-cat pipes i got dont have the holes in and as far as the heat sensor cable for the cats go you can cut them off or push them back up into the car.

 

My car passed the mot with a knackered cat, so may pass without the cats anyway.

i have just got some de-cat pipes for my zed and was wondering about a few of the same problems myself. there is a rubber tube that goes from somewhere in engine bay to cat and a sensor on my current cat pipes. am i right in assuming that these are the same as above and can be removed without much fuss? do i have to blank the other end off int the engine bay?

I think the tubes you are taking about are the AIV's, and can either be capped off, left open ended, or totally removed.

thanks for the info, makes my life easier (and cheaper as i dont have to buy more pipes)

Car is now decatted but doesnt seem to be any more powerful or responsive. If anything less. Also there are stupid amounts of vibration going through the car and engine noise (tapping) seems much louder.

 

Is this normal or is there something wrong?

 

Please help, can I stop these annoying vibrations! the exhaust volume is not a problem but the vibrations are almost shaking the car to bits :confused:

Vibrations??-you shouldn't have that mate!-different exhaust note maybe.

Have you checked the system isn't contacting the the underside somewhere?

The de-cat pipes are a bit closer to the gearbox i found, than the originals, just have to pry it away from the gearbox a bit. If you havent fitted a catback system as well you will find the drone inside the car at about 2000revs a bit unbearable after a while. You need the x pipe (mixer) to tone the drone down.

 

I find with the whole system done, it is a bit more responsive, but i have to be honest, i much prefer the original system, much quieter inside the car.
