Hi,

My Zed is in the for sale section - Not sure why i'm only having a couple of people looking at it?

Is £5000 too much for a 1996 tt manual lwb?

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Cheers, Ste

There are a lot for sale ebay ect at the moment best wait for a good price

if you think yours is worth the 5k then stick with it

very bad time mate, just after chrismas, fuel is expensive, zeds are cheap anyway etc etc etc

your car is not expensive and well worth it bud and you will get a buyer but in todays market it may take time.

all comes down to how much you need the money, if you need the money asap then reduce it to around the £4k mark, if you dont need the money then stick to your £5k ;)

Cool, i'll just sit on it then, whens the best time of year to start advertising?

I paid 5k for mine and its a 93, it all depends on its condition :)

Apart from a seat that needs the bolster redoing (try to sort) the car's in great condition anything thats needed doing has been done!

I think by start of Feb things will largely be back to norm... you haven't got much time to wait now, just take some nice pics and it will sell... a 96 TT 2+2 for £5K is well priced...

Would it be worth waiting a month or two and advertising at the 5200 i orginally wanted? As i only dropped the price to get it sold quickly, if i have to wait i'd rather get what i think it's worth.

Start just before Easter... People will be off work etc , weather will be better, days will be light longer etc.

As already said its not expensive for what it is .... but many many people now are only looking to pay £2 to £3K for a zed.

You dont need multiple buyers tho so just be patient.

There are discerning buyers out there who know (like we do) just how much better these later cars are

Yep, i'm just getting impatient lol, eventually they'll be worth so much more than they are nowadays, the rough ones are getting scrapped at quite a rate these days.

Thanks, i'll sit on it and bring it back up around easter time. Lol, it gets you down when the only replies you get are scam emails!

Ste,

Hold on in there bud, don't let such a nice example go for peanuts :nono:

I had to drop the price of my MINT P Reg. '97 N/A from 9K to 6K and it still took 6 months to go  and that was to a member (Jack) on this Forum! He has since sold it recently for £4K some 18 months later

It will go but you'll just have to be patient, as the others have said wait till end of Feb and then get it on Pistonheads, here and as many other places as you can sit back and wait, it's all you can do. Wish you the best of luck with the sale though bud ;) :D

Think the problem is Zeds are so cheap now. You can pick up a nice series 2 for £3k.

If I had £5k to spend on a zed I would rather spend £3k on the car then £2k doing it up (new turbos, tidying etc). Then I have a zed I know is sorted rather than hoping nothing goes wrong.

Good luck with the sale though.

Lol, you won't get alot for £2k better still find someone that has receipts for all the major work in the last year lol!

£2k will see turbos, cam bet + tentioner/water pump etc, water pipes, plenum bypass, service, and a few other things done.

I have owned three zeds over the last few years I know how far money goes on them dude ;)

Yeah , granted to buy the various bits £2k would replace much of the wear items but you'll need to do all the work yourself and alot of people just can't do the work due to experience/knowledge/time.

In my particular case i'd say £5k is cheap due to the fact it'll have had the cambelt + water pump ancillaries/clutch/bodywork restored with reciepts for everything and the fact that it's a newer car, with better box, fuel rail, hicas, series 2 ptu, no rust! It has basically had done what you say you would do, with proof, and is still a newer car that often have much more tired interiors. There are far more wear items than i think you realise tbh fella, the zed costs a hell of a lot to be run properly and have everthing changed.

Thinking about it - new standard turbos + water pipe +oil pipe+ water pipes would come around the £800 mark the engine serivce kits would cost £400-500 + fuel filter + sparks + replacement plastics + new clutch - £250

Just to buy thats what £1500 and you've not even thought about tires, shocks, door seals, body repairs.

honestly think your comparing old tired series 1 and 2 that are normally up for sale to newer zeds there is alot of difference trust me!
