Good to hear Gaz :)

p.s Im not sure who did your service, but most of the garages do the tensioner as an extra on top of the 60k service (it should be inspected either way). Its around £100 extra.

if your getting a 60k service your getting a tensioner!!! never heard of added extra.

the 60k service kits are offered with a tensioner and at £480 it was supposed to be done and the guy who did it gave me back a tensioner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the "other" parts that were supposed to have been replaced!

he fucked me over for nearly £250 im not happy!

and at nearly the expense of a new engine. im currently in test to see if the noise develops as currently i have only driven it to the petrol station and back.

the only "extra" i paid for was an additional idler which cost me an extra £70

Not sure if you will pick this one up, but did the lifter treatment sort out the noise or was it mainly the probs with the belt? I have exactly the same noise and am hoping that a can will fix it as I have just spent £800 welding it back together for the MOT and don't fancy taking it somewhere to get them to open the engine up!

i didnt try the lifter stuff. it was purly the tensioner on the belt had failed.

hope that helps

cheers for replying, I tried the lifter stuff, definately helped but the noise is still there, it's like a cross between a rattle a noisy chain and a ticking. I'll have to take it to a mechanic to check it out.
