I just want to start off by saying, that i know the whole compensation culture thing is a very hot topic for some, and some people will probably disagree with the morals of the subject. But at the end of the day its a decision ive made and im happy with. If you want to slate the whole compensation culture thing, fine i got no problem with that especially when it comes down to the sort of people who fake whiplash to get a bit of cash, but lets not make this personal shall we. Im not writing this in order to seek sympathy, purely to express the disappointment of not being able to get a zed for the foreseeable future.

Long and short of it is that i had a nasty accident a few years ago where i ended up with a serious knee injury that will require reconstructive surgery of the joint and ligaments/tendons surrounding it, which is penned in for the next few months. At the time I had a reasonable sum of money, which i had saved up, that i had reserved for a new car.

Because Jodie had to look after me 24/7 for the first 3 or 4 months of the rehab process, she took a career break of sorts to look after me, and the money that i had saved up was used to keep a roof above our head and food in the fridge (something im sure all of us would do given the scenario). For me this was a big dissappointment as i was really looking forward to getting another car after the dissapointment of my first zed. But hey, i bit the bullet and used the money to pay bills, as anyone would.

Anyway, legal advice was recommended, which i took, and civil action proceedings began. That was 2 years ago. Had a small consultation with my solicitor a week or so ago, in which i was told the claim had been filed, but it would take around another 9 months for the civil action to be completed.

For Fooks Sake!. all i want is the money back that i worked my arse off for... Oh well theres sweet FA i can to speed that up.

So i thought id do a small remortgage and use a tiny amount of the equity in the house....

Nope. Key workers duely stopped that from happening as im not close enought to the end of my current mortgage contract.

Arse....again!

So once again im about as close to zed ownership as Britney is to her kids....

Fooking miles away.

bugger.

good things come to those that wait, infuriating as it must be, hang on in there and make sure its a cracker when you get it!

I thought you were having a baby.... 9 months!

But exactly - good things come to those who wait.... Chin up xx

I feel for you mate..

I had to give my job up as a result of an "incident" at work (HMP).. I made a legal claim against my employer.. In the meantime, I had my house re-possessed, my wife divorced me, and I saw my kids once every fortnight  I had to sell my cars, my motorbike, and ended up with a £50 Renault from a friend :( .. I literally had nowt.

Everybody told me to stop wasting my time pursueing the claim, and just get on with my life (what was left of it) ..but I hung in there, as I knew I was in the right.

To cut a long story short, 6 years of patience paid off, and everything is good again, albeit single, but hey, I've got a zed :p

Moral of the story is, hang on in there, have patience, make your sacrifices, and everything will turn out well again, and you will be back in a zed.

All the best to you Nick.

Sorry to hear that mate,

As long as you got a roof over your head and food on the table that's the important thing.

I've been waiting 3 years now to drive my 300zx again. I know how it feels to think it's just around the corner and then it all gets fooked up again.

Cheers guys.

Its just so bloody frustrating when you get your hopes up, only for them to be shot down in flames.

Sorry to hear its taking so long.

I had a motorbike crash in July 2003 which left me in hospital for 4 months then house ridden for a further 3 and a year out of my life. Now left with partial paralysis in my left leg and the daily aches of having 16 fractures at once etc etc and STILL not had my case finalised, also had trouble proving it wasn't my fault when i got hit head on in my lane by a car overtaking on the brow of a hill.......THE LAW IS AN ARSE!!!

I feel for ya mate. All I can say is sue the b@stards and get every cent you can! If you want to attend any of the meets, just let me know. I'm just down the M3 from you and would be happy for you to ride along.

do a bit of overtime with a few gangsters and earn big booko bucks for your "inside" info :D

It,s just been on the news about Lesley Ash , the fit one from men behaving badly , she caught MRSA whilst in hospital , it nearly killed her and she,s still recouperating from the effects of the infection .

She,s just been awarded 5 million compensation !!!!

I wonder if any normal working man or women could get anywere near that amount if they claimed   :nono: Doubt it

It's based on her loss of earnings now and in the future as she has to walk with a stick after the infection.

If you are earning the same kind of money then you'll get something similar although I'm sure her high profile helped get it settled without going to court.

The mrs in law was hit by an idiot driving on the pavement a few years ago.

After a long stay counting hospital ceiling tiles, she took a further 2 years to get most of her mobility back.

Because she is a pensioner, her third + final payout, without going to court+ more years waiting was.......£5.5k.

Wooey, nearly covered our lost work, months of constant care, fuel, vets bills(she was walking her dog)+ a whole multitude of other crap.

Not that we wanted, nor expected nowt, nor are we bitter-pah! :slap: , or mad cos he's still driving :slap: :slap: .

Anyhow, a younger friend hurt when scaffolding collapsed, not to any similar extent got £168000....... just shows what a good solicitor can do.

I think people should get something for being hurt by others actions.

As for the mortgage, you can get loans at close to mortgage rate over thirty years.Handy to pay peanuts, till compo' comes through. :hyper:

for every bad trun you have there is a reason and your good turn will come and youll be glad it will, im not the type of person that believes in fate or any of the such but i have realised that when something doesnt go to plan its usually for the best then i eventually get what i wantedf anyway and im twice as happy as i would have been if id just gotten it straight away :D, hang in there your time will come.

Thanks for all the kind words people. To be honest i was expecting to get slated for going down the whole compensation route.

If this whole saga doesnt improve my patience, then i dont know what will!

Cheers again
