The area underneath my rear spoiler has gone all shitty. You know, the piece that has Nissan written on the left side and Twin Turbo on the right hand side.

My question is this: Is this actually part of the rear spoiler itself and, if so, by replacing the rear spoiler would I cure the shitty appearance of the rear of my car?

I noticed the Z centre has a fibreglass spoiler that is designed as a replacement for the original and looks the same. Does anyone know if this would also replace the shitty section at the back of my car?

Cheers

Define Shitty!

Yes, that part is part of the standard spoiler.

If you go for a mid or high level wing you also have to buy either the boot skin or a plastic cover to fill the hole that is left.

A low level flush boot spoiler will cover it like the stock one.

Mike it's the black strip you are on about and yeah, after about 10 years they look wank! Mine did, with mine now having the Z Centre fibreglass replica it looks much nicer. I had the whole thing sprayed red with no black stripe or stickers.

Cheers Timmy mate.

Will probably do that then. Do you know if anywhere can supply these ready painted (black) or would I have to have it painted myself?

Hi Mike.

I have just replaced mine.

I was lucky to find some one local with the same colour Z who has just had a Kit put on and his rear spoiler was taken off. I bought it for £50 which really is a good price.

Zcentre sell the stock look one for £185 made from fiberglass, which is a hell of a lot lighter than the sponge thats on it now, so it wont go bad again, but thats not painted.

Then you will still have to buy the vinal strip and the sickers that say Twin Turbo and Nissan.

Also, when I took my spoiler off it was a mess. There was quite a lot of rust there. Nothing too major. I just sanded the parts down put some rust eater stuff on it and painded over it with the correct colour paint but with a brush. No ones ever gonna see it under there.

One thing that I found a problem where the clips and the sticky strip that hold the spoiler on. I went to Nissan and thier diagram of the car showed no clips on the spoiler, so I couldnt find the part number to replace them, and the sticky strip to hold it on was £47+VAT and would take 2 weeks to get here from Japan. I bought a roll of double sided sticky stuff from my local car maintaince place. I put it on but its coming up in places. I think I will take it off and try putting it on 2 layers thick that may help.

All in all I think you should try to find some one who is selling one from a black Z. Post on the Wanted/For Sale section or try a few scrap yards. People here will be able to supply numbers for them.

But I think that you should get it done soon. Besides making it look a hell of a lot better, it will stop your boot from rotting.

If you need any help fitting it, Im only in Wigan biggrin.gif.

There are a few good scrap yards in Manchester who will have some. Dont know what they charge though. frown.gif

Cheers Pie Eater!

I didn't realise 'till recently that this was part of the spoiler. With this in mind, I attacked it with a wire spinny thing for my drill and ground away all the rust! Wondered why there was so much soft shite in front of the metal!!!!!

However, my subsequent filling and spray painting left much to be desired. Hence, my need to call it a day and buy a new spoiler to make life easier. So there's now no rust underneath anyway.

Not bothered about the logos anyway. Just want something that looks like the stock one but covers up that strip at the back.

Cheers

Mikey, got mine from Luke at the Z Centre and LEONARDO at PPS in County Durham fitted it along with all the other kit.

I would go for the fibreglass replica and have the brake light put in at the same time if you don't already have it...if you wanted it that is.

Stock spoiler is a heavy sow, absorbs water like a sodding sponge when the seal between the boot surface splits or the paint goes off and cracks etc.

Buy one and ring Peter at PPS for a quote on fitting and spraying, would have thought that would be fairly cheap and he does a blinding job! wink.gif
