Was wondering if it is possible to replace the turbos on a 300zx with engine still in?

I have a mate who reckons he replaced both tubs with the engine in.

So it must be posible but a right C**t to do?

yep it is a c**t to do but is possible just fiddly jim.

Regards chris.

The factory service manual actually states to do it this way but its much quicker and easier to remove the engine. Also you can replace other various parts that have suffered from age while its out :)

A cut down set of spanners are probably required as well.

Yes, you lose a bit of skin on the aircon pipes for the passenger side tho!

Thought so, i took advantage of my engine being out when i did them on my old zed, so never found out if i could do then with the engine in. I do remember it being a bit tight down there

you can remove the engine in near enought the same time as it takes to remove the engine so **** that

And for anyone contemplating it dont bother, its not worth the hassle,

The reason they did it that way was so as not to move the ECU harness at all. Therefore avoid the usual cracking up and ending up fitting a new.
