my boss has an f40 with only 3k miles on it.

did less than 200 miles this year betwen mot's

what a waste!

so many cars so little time though

While they don't look fantastic you have to appreciate them for what they are

please, cool it dude...

1. your car would not be on sale for 2k...

2. i wouldn't have come to look at your car in the first place because it would have been expensive for me, price and insurance...

3. i can from the work you've had carried out on your car see that you have loved it in a big way

4. that does not mean that i have to have the same taste as you, as per bodystyling

5. why are you telling me to piss off for giving a guy who is buying his first 300zx for ***£2000*** (and by the sounds of it his first performance car) the best advice i possibly can... isn't that what this forum is here for? have you honestly seen any of the £2k cars on the market inthe last 6 months? well i've seen few - and i can tell you for FACT that many of them are not worth the money *IN MY OPINION*, UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO SPEND ANOTHER £2K ON THEM - IN WHICH CASE WHY NOT GET A £4K car in the first place?

come on, man - i said nothing wrong at all and i'm honestly getting very upset with these sorts of replies... leave me in the middle of nowhere? really... :slap:

as andy says read the smiles as well as the text, in other words im pulling your leg ;)

I also wasnt telling you to piss off lol!! if you was to take my car for an hour testdrive down loads of roads without pomission then i would :) I hope you gave him petrol money :slap:

I cannot say i have ever been to see another ZX, I saw mine for £5300 on the net went up the next day an bought it home, and never looked back

F40, F50 or F60 then? Personally don't really like any of them, would prefer the Maserati MC12 though :D

i love the f50, from therear its just stunning, each to there own ;)

Ye will be in mine again for the meet...his not allowed out the garage in the rain or winter  No doubt you will see it in the summer months or when we have next Plymouth meet :p Dont bring them both very often due to petrol expenses ;)

Allowed out on nice winter days definately...lol

As stated, Malkie has had Z's before but there will be a lot of new people reading that, and is spot on i think, as its come from experience, and you cannot beat experience! and not some know all tw*t ! and he has bothered to sit there and type it all out for everyone.

Bornrebel.... your an asset to this club keep up the good work, i say listen and benefit

I bought mine totally standard so that anything i wanted done to it i knew what and how it had been done and it does reduce the chance of the previous owners being boy racers, saying that i reckon 90% of TT's have been booted hard sometimes to show of to friends etc etc by every owner! Was aslo bought to have fun, but still maintained properly is the thing.

Not that its now 1000bhp its not, its still stock apart from a bit of suttle bling under the bonnet, trim, wheels and exhaust and thats about it, and thats how i like it, ye i would like it a bit quicker but how ever quick a car is you get used to it and want more (not that i have not toyed with a serious power increase, i have, at one stage was thinking get it up to around 450bhp (Till i got the quote... lol) but no seriously... thought it aint worth the hassle and might even ruin the car)) I prefer reliability i think.. long live my best Z. if i do want more ill buy another for not to much money and blast that and take the chance, and know i can break it and get me dosh back... hopefully... if it breaks, cant bank on that these days either the way its going !

Can go on forever this kind of thing, think its sleep time now...

P.s. Lisaf is and will be the only other person to drive it and she can tell you how it feels

P.s.s UK Z's are best :duffer:

first *official* backup i have recieved on this board! thanks for that - received a few pms with people expressing support, but first balls on the table acknowledgement... maybe i'll continue posting my opinions in the future... in fact i might just create a vote on whether i should continue posting my honest thoughts or just shut up... ;) what forum should i stick that sort of thread in? :smw:

p.s. yes - listen and benefit - i have no vested interest either way and am just honest... if you really try to listen - you will benefit. not coz i'm right, but coz more info from different sources let's you come to *YOUR OWN* conclusions... can you imagine that? *YOUR OWN* conclusions... not anyone elses - *YOUR OWN*!

Exactly!

Also if there was not people like this on this site a think 50% of Zeds would be in the knackers yard as well *Experience*

Maintance...

I do some private hire driving and i have had more than 1,2,3 cars over 300,000 miles and still going strong.

I used to be into Granada cosworths ok not as fast as a Z but they dont hang around! now i had a mate which i met through the club and he had the best/nicest Granada i had ever seen absolutely MINT. this was his words for maintance "it still goes fast so cant be much wrong with it"

Take body builder 1, works his body bloody hard but also fuels it with decent food ect what happens ?

Bodybuilder 2 works bloody hard too, fuels his on Alcohol and fags, what happens?

Simple!

As for the Quest for power, when i first bought mine i thought it went like a fookin rocket, was not really till i bought another one (like buying cars.. lol) which was a bit faster for some reason, that mine started to feel not so fast then i got this other one chipped (We are talking about Lisaf's car as it is now) and it is now pushing 365bhp and it fly's and does make mine feel a bit slow, but if i went out and drove a 500bhp Z all of a sudden hers would feel slow n boring ! And im not slating anyone who has that kind of power as there are some stunning Z's on here with huge power, which i would love to have but the hassle aint for me, i dont want my z in the garage 70% of the time, a friend of mine worked in a tuning garage and these hgh performance cars where basically living there!

F1 cars are rebuilt every race or at least every other race, standard old womans shopping car never rebuilt !

Lets face it, in reality standard Z's are fast enough really and will see off most modern stuff even all these years later and last 3 times longer...

No im not a boring old straight git, yes i do drive very quick sometimes, i do have a drink etc... lol

yes i do drive very quick sometimes, i do have a drink etc... lol

Not at the same time I hope! lol

Stop being so touchy lol ;)

I love to bring mine on stong boost. It's why I bought a turbo car. It's why most buy them. I treat mine well though and never rag the nuts off it, just once in a while I like to stretch the car's legs a bit and remind me what a swift machine it is...I usually do that in France where the roads are smoother and have 70% less traffic on them!. :)

So true Si.....

Mine sits in the garage most of the week but I try to take it out a couple of times. However if I take it on holiday for a week; give it a long fast (100mph :nono: ) m-way run, followed by some spirited A & B road overtaking, after just 2 or 3 days it seems to run better and better.

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Why thank you. :)

I think I am going to keep it even when I get something else....NSX/348 etc I'll still keep it. Just isn't worth me bothering selling it for the little I'd probably get for it. I'd like to hope it would get £6k+, but I doubt that it ever would and with the prices they have hit now, it just really isn't worth it. So I'll either put it in a museum or a lockup.

I love boost in a big way - turbo cars' thrust just does it for me, not matter how powerful the car is - i love me my turbos. was in a latest edition 535 diesel recently (twin turbo diesel!) can't remember the exact specs but its something like 280bhp but 450lbft of torque and even though 0-60 0-100 aren't anything in particular i loved the way the engine felt. it's got balls.

as you like turbos too, Si why are considering the nsx/348? you been in a 996 turbo? I tell you that thing SHIFTS - it's like it doesn't accelerate - it just brings you to the intended speed in an instant - and they can be picked up for £35k-£40k now... i know it's a lot, but a good 348 will cost you £30k and will cost lots more in servicing. don't know, but as a fellow forum member i really don't want you to get an nsx/348... tbh though best deals on the market at the mo are imo as follows

1. maserati 3200gt early ones with the boomerang lights - 15k-18k - there is one gorgeous blue/crema thats been repaired after cat d by a ferrari garage on autotrader at £11,000!!! that is just phenomenal value! have a look...

2. 996 non-s non-4 - in many ways the only reliable sports car - but i'm not a fan of porkers myself... but at 18k-22k you get a sporty car with no headache for the next five years that's cheapish to run... compared with many of the zeds on the forum, anyway :D

3. mercedes cl500-cl600-cl55 for 15k-22k - a lot of car for the money! cl500 is economical, too as has the 5ltr that's switches half the cylinders off in traffic if recall correctly. late TT cl600, if i'm not mistaken is something like 500bhp+600ftlb!!! and reliable

4. mercedes sl500 at £25k - come on people - i know it's heavy and auto - but that car is class! fast (enough), reliable, hardtop convertible!!! what more could anyone want?

5. tvrs - one and all - like owning a zed in the sense that they aren't expensive to buy, but expnsive to maintain... but after a proper a blast in a tiv - nothing and i mean nothing feels as fast... and the sound! prefer it to any sound i've ever heard coming from a car, including the naughty sounds...

as per ferrari 348 - old and ugly, 355 nice with the targa, but good ones v expensive, 430 styling is way overdone and the car is too loud at idle - real attention grabber. personally i like the 360 the most and at £45k starting price - that's a lot of car/kitty wagon for the money, like the 550/575, too and prices are low, but servicing on those v12 can be v expensive... i guess i like 360/550/575 for the rear lights - classic round and classy - but still way too expensive for my liking - soon to be 30k-35k cars... give it maybe 12-18 months... speaking of rear lights lotus esprit v8! under 20k !!! (i know i like the s4s more, but v8 are later cars that i think might be more reliable)

P.S. JUMVEA or BIMTA worth anything? come on guys - answer! i know someone knows

P.P.S. i think i know what the next poll will be!

Why thank you. :)

forgot to ask you Si, what's the specs of your car... as i think if it's leather, airbag wheel, navan auto, 94-96, 50-80k mileage i saw a similar one on sale by a trader for 6.5k when i was looking for mine. i think your looks very nice indeed, especially with those bbs alloys (they are the nissan ones, right?). if you have the above specs i'm pretty sure you'd get £7k for it, but it might take up to 6 months to sell it... the low prices on current zeds and the lack any current alternatives from certain perspectives might just give the nice cars, such as yours a nice price bump (up!) - but dont sell it - you will just end up buying another one again - coz zeds are just great!

Where from?

I am looking at replacing my SLK230 with a new-ish SLK350. A 2005 SLK350 is still £26k with low miles; but I have not seen any SL500s for that money otherwise I'd have one.......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I take it back......

......Just been on Auto Trader and seen a couple of 52 reg cars for £25,995

Great value but I still think I'd probably prefer a newer car for the money.

Worth a look though

Si's is a 92 Manual TT with Advan Siena alloys, smoothed bumpers and 99spec extra, he is preparing for a full leather retrim at the moment. Its already an exemplory z32 but once he's done the retrim and completed his suspension overhaul plans it will certaintly be a top notch example well worth a high premium.

come on man - i'd rather have an older SL over a newer SLK any day... lots of those cars have low mileage even though you can get 200k out of them no problem and a sl500 is not a racers car - many will have been carefully driven... SL is most complete car in the world... there are better SLK class cars than the SLK itself out there are available for relative peanuts... and again *IN MY OPINION* for all you haters out there ;)

... and will someone in the know please answer the JUMVEA and BIMTA question! are they worth anything or not? I need to know for another car i might be interested in... please?

The only 2 worthy of note are the Honda S2000 or Porsche Boxster S in my opinion. Both may be better driver's cars than the SLK but neither have the class..........or that metal folding roof. Or the "airscarf"

Plus an SLK350 is a lot faster than the Honda.....in fact with a 0-62.5 of 5.5 for an auto (manual Mercs are always slower) it will give my ZX a run for its money ;)

I do agree with your opinion on the 500SL though; it's just that buying a daily driver for £26k I'd prefer a 2 year old car over a 6 year old car. Plus the SLK will cost me less on repairs and insurance etc than a 5.0 V8; although fuel is not an issue as my company picks up the bill on my Allstar card :D

my opinion - get an SL. you will lose less on an SL500 in the next 2 years than you will on an SLK, even though the new SL is about to come out... two months after it's out you will be able to get it for £3k-£5k less... I like the hardtop on your SLK - it's a major selling point for me. tbh would prefer s2000 and even more so the boxster - non s even - i like how it drives AND i love how it looks with the hartop on! smoooooth... thing with the slk and boxster - i have a biased perception they are girly cars - maybe it because they have older brothers in the manufacturers line-up (SL and 911), although i must admit i do like the way the boxster drives and even looks but only when with the hardtop. what about that 3.0 z4 - I LIKE! and even better for driving the z3m... oooooooh - nutter of a car. again hardtop availability/targas/hartop convertibles as yours just work for me... but youre right the merc makes a lot of sense as an everyday driver and i love how they make their hardtops... can't really beat a good merc... never been in a 350 actually - must be nice...

Dont think no one knows mate....

No more opinions on this?
