A good low mileage UK TT manual, series 2 can still fetch £5k if in good tidy unmolested original condition. You might be lucky...it could be an auto...they never hold their money as well. Probably rusty too. You might be lucky though, but for £2k, I doubt it's in particularly amazing condition.

If it was me i dont think i would spend anything under 4k maybe 3k for a half decent Z

But you never know go and have a look you might find a bargen

what i cant understand is that itas a manual also im very interested but the cars miles away??

like i sad go and see it you might be surprised. like my old man say expect to spend another £500 to sort out the niggle bits.

If you dont get it treat it as a nice day out :)

You can always make your money back from breaking if things go up in smoke! and in the mean time you'll have abit of fun!

This might be teaching you to suck eggs but hth! :p

The best thing to do is read as much as you can - i.e.

Has the guy got documentation for any work done to the car, hows it sound from cold, smoke on load etc, recent cambelt change. More important than anything is to look in the sills just back from the door on both sides where the targa drains are as that and the rear quarter are prime rust spots that don't always show up in the paint until too late. Got caught out by that on one myself!

Might be the bargain of the century or a money pit that will cost you £5k to get back to a healthy state before you can do anything in the way of mods.

Best bet is to find someone near you on the forum that knows there way round the car and that'll come and have a look with you!

HTH, Ste

thanx mate

Don't be afraid to look at the car and test drive it etc, all switches and lights and functions you can think of, as a geniune buyer will not have a problem with this! gives you abit of room to negioate aswell if you find anything minor.

Good luck mate, hope it works out!

My Uk TT was over 5k and needed a new water pump and geerbox in the 3000 miles i've done in it, its also running in safety boost

UK TT Manual......if it has absolutly no rust at all, then its worth the same as a Jspec 2+2, otherwise less.

Rust - Give the Sills a thorough inspection, particular where they meet the rear arches. They tend to rot from the inside out, so any visible rust can mean its worse than it looks. Also check engine bay for rust around the Shock mount areas, particualy weld points.

Ensure it has Service history for 60k service, inc waterpump. Check history for any suspenion component replacements, shocks, springs and bushes will be well past there lifetime by now.

Value all depends on condition, but a Manual is going to be worth as much as £1k more than a similar Auto.

Prices are rock bottom unfortunatly. Plain, average condition, stock example fetches very little money these days, and its only the more unique or exemplory examples that are worth any premium these days.

i paid 2k for my jap twin turbo with one uk owner and wit 60k on it with history as well. but i knew it needed a auto gearbox.. so bugeted for the new box

Uk cars are better as long as you get a good one, ive had both and the uk ones are smoother, less rattly trim(vurtually no rattle!), quieter noise levels inside the car. some of the parts are worth a lot more as well. And not clocked before being shipped.

If its miles away why don't you ask someone on this site to have a quick look. At least that way they can report back to you as to whether its worth you visiting. If he is keen to sell I'm sure he would dirive it to them so there would be no expense on their part.

Not true Dave, all the parts related to what you mentioned are the same. Except for spring rates, which are slightly (but not really noticable) softer on the Jap.

yeh, some zed;s drive a lot better than others, but nothing to do with Uk vs Import.

not the tidyiest car but wen it come on boost you knew about it lol :D

You can never tell a good car from a bad car by price. Recently a Red UK car sold for £8k. It was in A1 condition and only done about 50.000 miles. IMO it was a barging, but there are plent on here that have bought Jspec and UK spec cars for £4K and £5K and had nothing but utter nightmares. The other paid £2500 and got fantastic cars.

8 months ago I personally bought this SWB for £1500 as spares really and it has turned out to be a total peach. So you really need someone who knows Zeds well to go and look at it for you. Be patient and you get a good one eventually. Rush in and you may get bitten.0579_11.jpg

I think UK and Jap sound different like Wow300 says, his z and Red zeds cars are UK and I can totally notice the difference..even down to he noise when shutting the door.. not that I dont love my z tho :p I prefer Jap spec as they dont rust as quick
