Let me start by saying:

  • Not using oil
  • Not smoking
  • Still boosting strongly
  • 'Off throttle' gives good - neg pressure

There is no noise off-boost and i can't hear one on-boost (although may be drowned out by the hiss and exhaust!) however when i get close to 0 pressure (between +/- 0.5 mmHg) there is a slight rattling noise like shaking two dice in a cup, almost a ratchet noise....

Any ideas anyone? :)

Hey ,like dave said ;it could be the actuator arm vibrating due to rivet on the inside of turbo worn.I bought some tubs supposed to have done only 5000 mile and found that the drivers side tub on inspection had a really worn rivetted end .My mechanic dropped the exhaust on that side and looking straight up into the back of the turbo you could see it plain as day.Noise rectified by welding straight on to the rivet.Took about an hour an a half to do

do you still have the heat sheilds on the cats??? worth checking

Thanks Red_Zed, sounds like a plan. Znut - no cats at all!

Seems to be getting worse whatever it is so slightly worrying. Probably just a coincidence but the oil pressure gauge that was very varied for a few months 0.1 - 6KgCm3 is now only reading 0.1 - 2....... really need to fit a more accurate one soon if only for my sanity
