Hi everyone. I love my zed and provided i can pay to keep it running for 100 years i would drive it for 100 years^^ i also thought that this is a sensible investment as when it gets to classic car age 20-25 years it would be worth more. it seems that people are in a hurry to sell these and sell em cheap.... Even high spec ones..... whats going on...? is this because of the market crash or are they only going to kep falling and falling fast. i looked last year and a descent one would be 3-4 k and really good or high performance were going up to anything like 10k. this year a descent one seems to be 2-3 .

i know that as tax gets higher the interest for these big super cars will drop anyway but so soon and quick?

please let me know your thoughts and ideas

Regards

Damien

True, but find a good UK car though. There have been a few on here of late, but you're struggling now to find decent original type examples.

When I originally started hunting for a Z, I was looking at UK cars and was completely put off. Every one I saw had rust of some sort or another on it and with the state the interiors were in and condition of the bodywork, I walked away and ended up buying a JDM.

Saw some very shabby JDMs though too.

i think a good UK spec will still fetch good money, like my old one did with FNSH and no rust. i think the shabby JDM ones tarnish the market here... you know the ones that come in dirt cheap, shabby and low auction grade that some importers make a quick buck from by selling to people who want power for peanuts.

anyone of you in essex had a cam belt change and for how much? yeah i agree with diddy but unfortunaltely i got my car ( import) however it is a VERY good example of one. except i see all of these people with modded versions going cheaper than when i bought mine under half a year ago.

Just look at 2.8i and 3 litre capris. I had a few of them and some minters for cheap money. Now- they are crazy money if they are good, either stock (probably worth more like this) or tastefully modified.

Years ago I had a 240Z, 1970 camaro V8 and several Jensen Interceptors. All cost around £1k- try getting any for that now.

I think 300z's will climb out of the doldrums, but not for a while so depressed values will be with us for a few years yet.

I also thought that this is a sensible investment as when it gets to classic car age 20-25 years it would be worth more.

If you are seriously thinking about the zed as an investment you are wrong.

It's not opinion it is fact.

You would be better off sticking your money in an ISA and benefit from some tax free growth that doesn't involve a cash injection every few months! lol

Zed prices will not go up for a very very long time.

I know this because of cars I have owned in the past. 30 year old mini clubman estates for example, still dropping in value now even if they are in good condition.

People generally want newer cars and are not willing to take a risk with something older and more exotic. Plus everyone is jumping on the environmental bandwagon now so a 3L turbo charged car is going to become less and less popular.

There's my two pence worth...

yeah sorry but i am not good with words. i didnt literally mean investment as i know its not gonna make me money ^^ that why i do stocks and shares with my wife i just meant maybe i wouldnt lose too much money when i have to sell. i dont want to sell but when/if tax prices hit like they do in ireland then as much as i love the car i wouldnt pay that. while im not as intelligent as most people in the world i do realise the car wont make me money........ unless i made it a monster truck and went into compititions ( fat chance )

Fair play.

It sounds like you are more intelligent than a few people on here, so don't put yourself down!

I actually know a couple of idiots who have bought 3 smart cars because they think they will go up in value! :wack: they have a fortwo, forfour and the little coupe thingy!

i look at my zed as a consumable item, looks great and gives me the buzz factor when needed but ime a realist and its worth a lot lot more to me for that very purpose than what its worth in money terms and as long as i dont throw stupid £££££ at it or over modify then when it does go ile be smiling with fond memorys rather than crying over thousands wasted :)

I couldn't agree more...

This is definately the way I'm thinking; So many people worry about what reg there car is ,even how much it's worth.I know someone who paid £11000 for a Renault Megan 2 years ago on finance..worth diddly now!I would sooner keep paying in to the Z for up keep, people love to see this car pull up..and....I get to drive the Legend!!...Helps if you've got a normal run around for Sainsburys

I don't think you should be running one as a daily driver any more, if you want it to last and get the enjoyment out of it. It's the winter salt that causes early body problems. If you can avoid that period or can give it a good power wash after use in the winter, it should look good and pass the Mot for years. The same applies to modifying the motors, it may go faster but the stresses are greater and that stress is also reflected through the gearbox, suspension and steering. That's when they become an expensive vehicle to own and run.

Yep. I agree.

at the end of the day I view my cars as "big boys toys"

I only buy stuff if I can afford it... play (hard) with it and when it breaks or I get bored its time to discard it. If there is any money to come back then great. If its worth nowt ... then it doesnt matter(to me)

At soe point as most cars do tey will reach rock bottom then after a while will go back up in price, look at old Capri's,especially the 2.8i few years ago could get one for £750 try getting one for under £1700 now
