Before I call it a day and sell my zed on the bay for stupid money  one last question in hope of fixing without major cost.Had new pcv's(2 valves 2 pipes i believe) fitted about 200 miles ago(don't use the car alot was about 3 weeks ago) since then smoke is coming from exhausts(both I think) on relese of throttle after a few seconds of full boost. Also the dipstick has popped out a few times(at above 11psi) and blown oil over battery. Everything else seems fine power and all. Could this be the pcv's at fault. Car did have a brief few over high boost on incorrect boost controller setting but is running at 9.5psi. thanks in advance and happy new year to all

Sounds like cracked ring lands to me :( Did exactly the same to mine when it split a wastegate actuator pipe :( Remove the oil filler cap and see if you have exhaust coming out of there. Another check is wipe your hand across the back of the car, if its covered in oil then the news aint good.... Sorry....

can't really tell if there's oil on back of the car as there has been so much shite of the roads dragged up with all the crappy weather. Will clean the arse end tommorrow take it for a run and check the oil cap for fumes. Had a feeling the rings could be the prob looks like bye bye zed and all if they are gone. Thrown enough money into the car to get it running safe and right and looks like it's been proffessionally ballsed up

you said that the pcv valves were replaced along with the pipes, the old pipes if you look inside them have small metal round restricter's in them which slow down the flow of air and would also stop oil mist, know that from putting one back together as i've just replaced the headgaskets and replacing all the pipe work for silicone type, might be worth a look.

i don't have the old ones they were replaced in a garage along with a load of other work carried out. Are the pcv's easy to remove? anuone have any install diagrams would be helpful and worth a look

as you look at either side of the inlet manifold they are postioned one each side with a pipe off them, remove the pipe and unwind/undo them (17 or 19 spanner)i think.

is there no way a mod could be carried out on the plenum to re-postion the pcv,s so that they are above the oil residue that sits in the bottom of the plenum thus doing the job of venting off the crankcase like any other rocker box breather system, seems a very poor design this and just invites the one way valve (pcv) to get blocked----andy over to you :)

LOL the only place the oil comes from is the PCVs ;) I do have some designs for a system that wouldn't dump oil in the intake but I'm keeping those for ZXtreme customers cars only due to the number of rip off merchants out there waiting to make a quick buck from other folks hard work ;)

lol yea i know but with it getting dumped in the intake does,nt it then drip back in via gravity is what i mean

Oh and just to add, although there are many other designs out there, they DON'T have a positive purge on the crankcase with supply of fresh clean air to clear the corrosive combustion gases, which contaminate the oil resulting in much reduced bottom end bearing life.....

That's exactly why I designed the system the way I did ;) There will be no oil there to drip :)

Thats exactly what I hate about my job! Its great giving a customer their car back working great. When you have to break the bad news its a completely different story :(

surpose you could remove the old pcv valves and punch the centre out of them so the valve bits gone then wind them back in, put a pipe on them and then put the new threaded part of the pcv into the pipe with a hose clip to hold it in position, then mount it upwards and then reconnect the main pipe to the rocker box, would mean that you would have to replace or lenghtern some of the pipe work tho, with the one me and my brother in law are doing we have removed/modded so much stuff on it as we have been putting it back together theres nothing to put back on,its great, turns a hard car to work on what with all the pipes and hoses into a very clean simple engine to work on.

yea same here :( "your roof is knacked mrs smith"

If I'm reading that correctly, the system will work in reverse and pressurise the crankcase with manifold pressure every time the car comes on boost?

Your roof will cost £500 Mrs Smith........ OR...... Your engine rebuild will cost £3k including parts.... LOL

hmm,no still the same way as standard postion but allows you to position the pcv valve at a angle of your choice as its now on the end of a piece of pipework, this should stop a oil build up i would have thought?surpose that is what the small round metal restricters are for in the pipes as they are also in the short pipes from the top of the rocker boxes to the turbo intake pipes,to slow down/trap any oil mist.
