Stock turbos run out of efficiency at 17psi but anything above 15psi and you're basically just heating the air way too much. Fitting larger ICs would give a bit more headroom but still not much point. Once you hit 17psi no matter how much you increase the pressure, the flow will stay the same, you just superheat the intake charge. Don't bother with hybrid turbos that use the stock compressor housing, even if they're machined out for larger compressor wheels - its the diameter of the compressor housing outlet that governs the max flow. Fuel pump isn't an issue until you get to over 600rwhp. With this in mind, I wouldn't bother with 440s - anything that requires uprated injectors means a lot of other major upgrades and you'd want much larger than 440cc/min if you were going to all that effort ;)

Stock limiter is 7000rpm - although again the flow the engine demands at 7k is way higher than the stock turbos can produce, especially at 14psi!!!

Hope that helps, if not a bit too much info ;)

Cheers,

Andy

Cool thats some very usful info, il bear that in mind for future tuning. so basically at this stage im at i might as well stick to it till i want to spend the big boys....

maybe il just get an uprated intercooler for safer running in the summer.

think im guna consentrate on making the car look better for now as its a bit of a mess and fix all the niggles it has ;)

thanks again andy

Have got to admit, there are subaru injectors are 440s and are a direct fit on series 4 cars onwards if you change the connectors. Must admit I think they are worth it as they are cheap and you will not be maxing out the duty cycle.

>> Must admit I think they are worth it as they are cheap

increasing fuelpressure to 4.2bar will increase the flow of the stock injectors to approx. 440cc...even cheaper solution ;)

Although I don't recommend increasing the fuelpressure to over 4 bar

also the subaru injectors sell in sets of 4, so it's hard to get a set of 6, unless you buy 3 sets and sell the remaining 6 injectors to another 300 owner :D

hmmmmm sounds like a good idea.....

how do i adjust the fuel pressure then? with the regulators? they dont look very adjustable to me...... and why wouldnt you recomend the pressure change???

whats wrong with a bit of tweak? :

Strangely enough I have a set of 4 for sale for £60 :D

Eric, I am interested to ask why you are advising taking the fuel injectors above 80% duty cycle as all the injector manufacturers don't recommend it, as it makes dosing unreliable?

yo whAT ARE THOSE VHIPS LIKE YOU ARE SELLING WEHATS THE DIFERENCE???? I BOUGHT ON OFF EBAY BUT IM A BIT WARY OF IT???

you don't have to increase dutycycle...increasing fuelpressure will make an injector flow more.

eg. a 370cc injector at 80% IDC and a fuelpressure of 3 bar will be flowing approx. 295cc

a 370cc injector at 80% IDC and a fuelpressure of 4 bar will be flowing approx. 345cc

> how do i adjust the fuel pressure then?

with an aftermarket fuelpressure regulator...and I don't mean the cheapo Ebay crap, but eg. a proper Nismo FPR

also increasing fuelpressure means you need a remap ...it's basically the same as installing larger injectors.

Downside of the fuelpressure increase method is that it's harder to determine the exact injector flow, so you'd need to have it mapped with a wideband O2 sensor or when you have a flowbench test of your injectors at the increased fuelpressure you are running, it can be calculated

mate i aint done no remap yet just a cheapo chip from ebay which described as beeing able to run safer fuel/air for 1 bar on a standard turbo........ i duno i duno.

Im looking at injectors at the mo as want more headroom. Car is still running rich at 14.8psi according to noble but dont wana runt the risk.

be careful with those ebay chips.

most I have seen just removed some limiters and left all maps standard...which is very risky business: you might as well run 1 bar on a stock ECU and pray for the best.

it's better to spend a bit more and buy a well proven chip from one of the traders or people on here that are well known for their chips (eg. John Dixon)

yeah i think il buy one of those john dixon chips soon, after xmas... u got the socket so i can just solder it and then plug the new one in so i can swap them over whenever i want? eprom socket i think its called???

I've got a JD chip perfect for your mods, £50 delivered if your interested.

What Eric (Lymon) said is absolutely bang on! I can't recommend enough getting a decent chip from a known reputable source! TBH I'd take Glenn up on his offer straight away!!!!

If your ecu isn't socketed already then you haven't got a replacement chip from ebay but one of those resistor jobbies that just fool the ecu into thinking its operating at the correct afr ( I think) in which case you want to get rid of it asap before it does some serious damage.

Then get your ecu socketed and chipped from a reliable source. Then you can increase your boost.

haha na i didnt get one of those silly, i soldered one in, anyway thats another story u can ask andyduff about that haha.

so why is that chip perfect for me?

induction

straght thru exhaust system

and running at 1 bar :)

anytyhing that will run well with those simple mods il buy:) :)

Ok 50 smackaroonies sounds good to me have you got paypal glenn???

Damn im scared that unsoldering my chip again may screw up the ecu board hope not.. i should of put the eprom socket in from beginning ah well....

The chips I am selling are 2 x john dixon ones and I DTA one, both are great products!

I have a set of 6 subaru 440cc injectors; I've bought them in ebay to some jap guy...great seller. He sells them in packs of six if you want them...you just need to get the newer style injector connectors and slice the injector a little bit :smash:

they work flawless, I just bough them because sometimes I do some high speed runs and stock injectors at 100% duty cycle scared me a little bit :mac1:

Subaru part numbers:

16611AA101

16611AA100

and if you can get the 16611AA231 they are 480cc according with this web site [http://homepage1.nifty.com/BG5A59D/tips/injector.html]

Seller in ebay is theglobesavinggroup...and they pretty cheap if you consider that they are cleaned and flow tested.
