Can the short block be removed on the VGDETT engine and be replaced with stage 1 or 2 short block from Z1 Motorsport without removing the engine?

The block is the engine!!!

you can take the heads off in situ, if thats what you mean?

 

but its better to just remove the engine, saves alot of hassle, and that way everything can be checked properly!!

You can change the heads with the block in situ, but as Greg said, sometimes its quicker to removed the engine. It will make everything easier to get to.
