door speakers

I want to replace my standard door speakers, first of all, how do i get them out, i have only briefly tried to remove the speaker grill, but didnt have much luck...

 

Can anybody tell me how to take the speakers out...

    Gotta take the door panel off mate as the front speakers are attached to a plate thats fitted to the door,all will become clear once you have removed the panel

    They are not always attached to metal plates. The old Bose speakers came in a large plastic box with a small amp in it.

    Either way the speakers are attached. The grills are attached to the door panel front behind, so if you try and get it off from the front without taking the panel off you are going to damage the panel.
