having problems with my n/a manual after ive driven it for a while

if i pull up at say traffic lights it sometimes wont go into 1st gear and takes a while to find any gear it crunches and makes a grinding noise until it finds a gear.....is this my clutch cos it still pulls like a train and only seems to do this when its been run for a while its got a short shifter on too but this seems to be working fine

if it is the clutch do i need to change the lot or just the faulty bit

cheers in advance

sounds like its draging as apposed to slipping, try bleeding the system but first get someone to put the clutch down and get under the car to see how far the lever on the bellhousing moves as its a good indacation of air in the line or a fvked slave cylinder iff it moves very little or iff thats all fine try adjusting the pedal hth

hey matty

Probably barking up the wrong tree with this suggestion but will start the ball rolling on ideas..lol...has the box oil been changed at oil

if im in a traffic queue for a while only moving a few feet at a time the clutch pedal goes soft as if theres nothing there but once ive started to drive again it seems to go back to normal as if it needs the car moving to pump it up weird innit

bleed it

allso check the master cyl, could be the non-return sticking

have you tried pumping the clutch to try seeing if the gears engage better?

yes mate and ive even tried swearing at it lol thanx to everyone for their advice ill change the gearbox oil and bleed the system to see if that helps

Gearbox oil wont be the cause of the fault.as znut states it most likely hydraulic related.

thats what i thought mate cheers

Deffo needs bleeding/possible master-slave cylinder replacing... :) Will have a think on any cures re your PM :)

Well i had a weird problem when i put the engine back last time in the red car...

It seemed like the master cylinder was not pushing enough volume thru. We bled it from all the points we thought would help and nothing would work.

Then I pysically pushed the slave cylinder in, my Dad then put he foot on the clutch, nothing, and second pump.... success!! we had a clutch! No idea what the problem was but it's been absolutely fine for months!

HTH

chek the seals around the bulkhead behind the MS, replace if nes

bleed systym and check for any leaks between pedal-slave cylinder

i dont think ajusting pedal will do much, if it was fine before. I would say a hydraulic issue, and the slave cylinder pushrod is not engaging the fork properly.
