Tippet noise on just imported TT

I'm having this small tippet noise on my 27K miles TT, I understand it has been sitting for 3years now but with regular engine warm-up at Export dealer's garage.

I have change the engine oil with a Pro S Silkolene 5W-40, I can still hear this tippet noise though not as much as before but would like it to stop altogether

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue short changing the tippet?

thanks

hello, fella, not sure what a tippet is?????? if its like a ticking noise your getting, then most probably its a sticking lifter, you say you changed the oil, do a few more miles with the new oil to let it clean some of the shite out. if still doesnt work then try some hydraulic lifter fluid, add it with the oil and drive for another good few miles. If it still doesnt clear it, might mean that the lifter is fooked, and thats a bummer of a job. if you do it yourself.

thanks Dutchy, yes its same as lifter. I guess I drive for another 100 miles and then try that hydraulic lifter fluid.

thanks again

27k  it would do it more good to give it a good canning down the m/way,my car iff stood for a few weeks taps on start-up and hangs around till i whip its ass then its fine and i find i feel better doing this instead of adding additives to cure a sticking lifter which 9 times outer 10 is a result of inactivity anyway

Well I'm going to do a 250 mile drive to Birmingham tomorrow, I hope that should sort her out.

And yes, its 27K mile - that is why I snapped it up. 41227 km when I picked up at Southampton port. Car went through inspection in jap to ensure its not been rigged.

The guys also have a rare yellow one that is only 19K miles but they are asking too much for it

Iv had a noisy lifter for a year now and it gets on my tits!! started 2 days after I bought it iv tryed oil changes, lifter treatment long cruises and no change the only way to stop it is to kane the arse off it!! then its fine... till you switch off and fire up again. Ive been quoted £700 to replace them. but then ive just clocked mine up to 98,000miles but yours has such low miles that your lifter could be sticky?? give it a good drive mate wind her right up and get that oil flowing!! she'll be alright!!!

I had mine jacked up for a week when i did the 60.000 mile service cam belt and so on

When i started her up it ticked and i thought i must of nipped a valve but after a 10 minute drive it was fine and never do it again

Give the zed a blast

like any high performance car, they feel shit if they have been stood for a bit. Its amazing, my £500 run about shed i can start and drive like a normal car at normal speeds, my ZX feels so delicate for the first 5 miles or so, relectant to change (due to auto fluid not getting up to temperature quickly in this cold weather since its got the biggets aftermarket auto box oil cooler in the known universe!!) and just generaly isnt as fantastic as it is after those few miles. I run mine to work about a couple of times a month, gives it a clear out... and the rest of the time a short sharp whipping down some lanes clears its lungs!!

But back on track, all cars clatter a bit if left standing for a while!

As Brian has said, get in the thing and drive it. If it's been sat for 3 years, any oil left in the hydraulic lifters will have drained out and it can sometimes take a good bit of driving to get them to pump back up again. Letting an engine idle won't do much either as oil pressure is relatively low. You need to drive it reasonably hard, or just keep the revs up for a good period of time...with fresh oil.
