Just wondering what use to make of this useless area on my dash?

The 2 drawers are too small for a CD disc and the drink holder doesn't.

Suggestions please - what have YOU done with yours?

I suppose I am looking for pics or graphics of what's been done. I can think of a few things - just looking to see what's been done to best effect.

I had a custom mount made for a Greddy profec B and matching tub timer in there. Sorry not got any pics but it did look great!

ATt the moment I have a blanking plate and have attached the sat nav screen holder to it and also my DAB radio adapter. Looks crap though so a rethink is in order.

Moved the radio to the bottom so the sat nav is a bit higher. Unfortunately the only way the traffic alerts work on mt garmin is if it is plugged into the scren holder so a bit of choppy choppy is in order to get it to look better.

No pics I'm afraid as it looks rubbish.

The only thing with Sat Nav - is that it really ought to be as near eye level as possible - otherwise you divert your attention away from the heads-up position for too long whilst checking your route. Almost the same as 'looking for a CD' etc

That could be deemed a bit 'careless' or 'dangerous' in the event you have a prang. You'd never prove you weren't looking at your maps instead of looking forwards. (unless the unit was switched off). Just a thought.

fitting a carputer i think is best and i loved what legrath did with his old Z

thats why manufacturers are spending thousands installing built in sat nav systems in there products dashboards.

the way the z dash is means you are looking forward at it anyway not like a ford fooktus where you are above it.

Was that a question, or a statement or just casting scorn upon my comment?

Well fortunately, you'd never have to - the burden of proof would be on the police... and just like you couldn't prove you weren't looking at it... they couldn't prove you were ;)

or out your rear view/side mirrors.,speedo while checking your speed as you wouldn't want to go 1 mph over the speed limit. fuel guage (more relevent for z's) temp guage (again more relevent to z's)

looking where you dropped your big mac lettuce filling and trying to balance a mobile phone on your shoulder while sipping from a large pepsi

all in theory of course! jeeez wouldn't want to be taken the wrong way would i.

1 i don't smoke

sorry to be boring after all this technology, but the original BOSE nameplate still looks great :duffer: and doesn't cost anything either! I never had the tray which would be quite handy for the fags and stuff

Also you don't see too many cars with a "bose" logo under the stereo, looks pretty sweet, and the fact it's original makes it even better.

dave made it himself :)

i also made mine myself but i used a larger screen... it looks very similar to dubloves in this pic...

a very tidy look and still looks nice and stock. the carputer route can work out very expensive if you do not already have amps etc (or even if you do :()so its not really an ideal solution to the 'what shall i fill my bottom din slot' question...

How easy was it to make that fit mate? i have been wanting t do this for ages

the one in the pic is dubloves and im sure he will tell you the same. i have been making mine over the last few days and its far from an easy job but it really depends on how good you are with fibreglass etc. the finishing is the most important to make it look good. for me it is about making it look as stock as possible. there are only very subtle differences between mine and dubloves.

the screen fits well in the double din opening but behind the scenes on the dashboard there is alot of cutting and removing to be done :)
