Police Cars

Not recommended or sensible, but anyone tried to lose a police car, as 300's are capable of going faster than any? police cars on motorways ?

T4's can only do about 140.

Helicopters can only do 125.

You can't berate them for 'not caring' about cars being stolen and then go to say that too many innocent people are being killed in police chases. Whilst the police, like any other profession, has its share of good and bad....i think you will find that the %age increases are due to the astronomical increase in car theft.

If you don't speed you don't get nicked....simple innit?

Some the postings on this site are f**kin' pathetic.... some of you guys should have to obtain a licence before you breed.

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif THAT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN SAID BETTER.

That's true. However, are you saying that you never exceed the 70mph speed limit on clear empty motorways?

What if they decide that for "safety reasons" they want a blanket reduction to 60mph? Will you still obey that? 50? 40? 30?

I wasn't aware that we were discussing my driving.

If I DO exceed the speed limit I have to be prepared to accept the punishment.

Some speed limits I do not agree with...some laws I do not agree with....but I am still subject to them the same as anybody else.

It only needs a bit of common sense....police guidelines for enforcing speedlimits are +10%+2 mph....so in a 70 limit it is very unlikely that you will be prosecuted for travelling at 79 mph. Likewise it is UNLIKELY that you will be punished for doing 35 in a 30 limit.

These are only GUIDELINES....if you start 'gobbing off' to Mr. Plod you will, of course, increase your chances of prosecution no end.

Over 3,500 people are killed every year on our roads.......and a lot of them are as a direct result of the asinine, mindless behaviour 'championed' by a few morons on this site.

Now let's all just CALM DOWN !!

As I started this thread, I feel a little responsible for the way it is going.

My original question did not say I approved or disapproved of such behaviour (trying to lose the police). I'm sure no-one here wants to kill anyone, but by driving a car, especially a powerful 300ZX, this is an unavoidable risk one takes. You can reduce the risk by driving sensibly and slower, but how far should we take this ? Should we all buy Missan Micras and obey all the speed limits ?

Life itself has inherent risks and we as humans derive some pleasure from risk taking. I'm not syaing it's OK, but what's the alternative ?

Many die on the roads every year, and I agree that is unacceptable. Also, the police are not beyond criticism, and do put extra (unacceptable) danger on innocent people as a result of chasing drivers.

The subject is not black & white, so please stop slagging each other off unnecessarily.

Kinace, 'kinsanctimonious!

You either don't understand the point I am making or you clearly don't understand the meaning of the word sanctimonious.

What the hell is 'sanctimonious' about driving sensibly....and trying not to contribute to 3,500 road deaths?

'The Devil'...'kintwat!

Nah, that doesn't work, y'see, your name is..oh, forgeddit...'kinsad

This thread personifies everything shit about this forum.

And one guy comes on and says something halfway sensible and is shot down.

TAKE A FUCKING WALK AROUND A NEURO UNIT AND COME BACK AND TELL ME ITS COOL TO DRIVE LIKE A TWAT.

BOLLOCKS TO THIS PLACE frown.gif UNPLUG THE FUCKER CRAIG FOR CHRISTS SAKE frown.gif

Deary me.

There is nothing cool about driving like a twat. There is also nothing cool about repeating garbage, real killers of the majority of the 3500

Driving whilst not in full control of your car, from mobies to drink from kids screaming to failed map reading from lighting a fag to looking for speed cameras from drowsiness to icy roads, this is the real killer of the majority. Around 70%

Speed is counted as a factor in all these, because in colating the figures, you should be stationary and therefore it comes under 'Inappropriate or excessive speed'

ACPO don't like to release the figures as they don't tie up nicely with the speed camera ethos.

Read the headlines, feel for the victims but look deeper than just the surface.

Oh, the 'kin stuff, that was a (failed) attempt to stop the bickering, humour eh!

Excessive speed is the *cause* of between 3 and 7% of road deaths depending on which figures you look at. Excessive speed does not necessarily mean exceeding the speed limit, so the number of road deaths caused by speeding drivers is less than that. Certainly far fewer than the 1/3 claimed by the government. If you're only talking about motorways (which was the original point), then the figures are even lower.

I fully support the police chasing stolen cars (frankly I wish the police were allowed to just shoot the f*ckers), but I can't see why a police driver thinks it's OK to chase a "dangerous" driver doing 100mph on the motorway by doing 120,130,140 to catch up. Which is the more dangerous? They have the reg number, the car isn't stolen, so why don't they just get the guy later.

How can you support that!

1 They chase mostly kids who will almost certainly crash the car, they may kill themselves or other road users during this 'fun-run'.

2 If your car is recovered then it is usually fooked, by those same kids crunching gear revving the bolleaux of of them and screwing the wheel hubs.

3 Persuing a bad/inexperienced driver at 120mph is just trying to kill him, he may deserve it in your eyes, but this is not the Wild West.

Those road death figures also include pedestrians.

Those adverts are a joke where someone walks out in front of a car and gets run over, stating that if the driver had been doing 5mph less then the kid would have survived. If the kid stepped out into the road 10 seconds earlier the car would have had room to stop... but they don't point that out.

It's not just drivers that need to take responsibility for their own actions.

My best mate got killed after running out from behind a school bus. Imagine how the drivers must have felt.

Everyone knows that driving fast or like an idiot is not big or clever, but still from time to time most of us still do it.

I drove like a knob (all be it 7 or 8 years ago now) got caught and paid the penalty, which i admittedly deserved.

If the law had not taken me off the road, i probably would of ended up killing somebody or myself sooner or later and i cant fault the police/judge for taking me off the road.

The bottom line is most of us will drive fast from time to time, but its all a matter of common sense as to where and when you do it.

I doubt whether anyone on this forum could honestly say that they never speed, never drive when tired or under any form of influence of drink/ medicines etc, which are all just as dangerous as eachother.

Thats my two penneth anyway!

The problem is that you either let them go and they'll just keep stealing again and again, or you catch them. It's then up to the courts to lock them up. Unfortunately they rarely do.

Certainly, if the police recognise the people in the stolen car and know where they live, the much better option is not to chase them, but to arrest them at home later.

Unfortunately the fact that they aren't being chased still won't stop them endangering other people by driving like lunatics and damaging the stolen car.

3 Persuing a bad/inexperienced driver at 120mph is just trying to kill him, he may deserve it in your eyes, but this is not the Wild West.

As I said, I support the police pursuing car thieves/armed robbers/etc, but I don't support the police pursuing drivers who are simply exceeding an arbitrary speed limit in their own cars.

I have to reverse my cars out onto a main road on the lower side of a hill where the brow is the seperation between national speed limit and joining the 30 zone for the village!

Mega dodgey as you can't see cars coming into the village so you have to reverse out when it's clear with some enthusiasm.

We were outside over the weekend, I was arsing around with the car and we heard a police siren and then the car flew passed our gate doing about 60 mph.

All I will say is that if at that moment I had been reversing out of my drive he would not have been able to stop and could have killed me, my Mrs, both of us and possibly them! Fuckwits! wink.gif

Fair point, but reversing onto a main road is against the law. tongue.gif

On the other hand, you'd need to reverse in instead which would be just as bad. biggrin.gif

Timmy - You wouldn't have been saying that if your Mrs was being raped and they were on a 999 call to her assistance.

Was it a Traffic division car or an area car?

Tim

Sorry if some one steals a car and then dies in a 100 mph crash. FUCKING GOOD!!!!!

If they crash and hurt and kill any one else. I hope that the like thief had a long and painful death. Or if they survive they should be charges with murder of the people killed in the crash or attempted murder of the people who are injured. And dont give that FUCKING BULLSHIT about if the police didnt chase they wouldnt speed. FUCKING BOLLOCKS!!!!!! Yes they will. And if they kill some one in a crash, dont give me the FUCKING BULLSHIT that they had nothing to do with it. Firstly they stole a car, secondly they are speeding, thirdly when confronted by police they run and dont stop.

There was a crash near to me about 3 years ago.

The road where it happened was not stright but slightly cornered one way then the other and is on the crest of a slight hill. Some twat in a Corsa took that corner at 80mph in a 30 zone, took the right bend got to the brow of the hill car lifted and went straight into the barriers killing him and injuring the passenger. Sorry but he deserved it. He was a twat for going 80pmh in a 30 zone, and he was a twat for knowing nothing about driving at speed. Any one with knowledge will know the suspention crushes and rises with hills and you will not have control.

The other night with that shooting on the M6, the junction where I live. In fact I was woken by the helicopter going to it and AY3388 and I saw the car being taken away down the east lancs. Too right that they shot the fucker. And now they are defending themselves for doing it. I think they should be shot no matter what!

Sorry for getting mad, but this whole thread it stupid, and the fucking first question was fucking stupid.

Do you think we would be here if we tried to out run police? NO! We would be in fucking prison for doing so or even killing inocent people in a crash. Firstly they just get you numberplate and come knocking on your door the next day.

No offence to the new people on this forum. But one or two are just asking some FUCKING DUMB and childish questions.

Thanks for that potent image Tim!

Area car, well I would have thought having 3 young kids over the road aswell could also have been disasterous!

All 'what if?' scenarios I know but entering a 30 zone from a national speed limit over a blind brow on a hill wouldn't have made much difference in them slowing down for a second would it???

Errr... I know I'm a newbie an' all, but this site seemed like a bit of a laugh (still does to some extent) This topic seemed like a good one for discussion, but hasn't it all got a bit out of order? Maybe you could have another heading on the page with a list of the biggest and ugliest rows that have developed around a thread. Kinda makes you not want to post any questions in case something like this kicks off. Then again it has been a right good laff keeping up with it!

How predictable from Tinky Dinky, you can give it out to everyone but cant take it back eh wink.gif get a sense of humor. Or is it a case that no one else is allowed to have an opinon again. Grow up Duplicate boy.
