i know mine is just one of those irish plates, but i was wondering if it was worth anything????, or if i was to keep it, what procedures do ihave to go through and how much will it cost

get it valued bud... if by keep it you mean remove it from the car but put it on a retention certificate then it will cost about £120 quid a year to do so :)

can't see it having much value if any at all

google it chap... there is lots of competition out there for cherished registrations. heres an example of the top of the google search

 

unless your reg is extremely valuable and you want peanuts for it they will very rarely buy the plate off you outright. they will give you a value to which you would have to agree to, they then advertise on their website and any other media they use, if some1 buys it, you get paid!

 

it could be months or years, bear in mind the 120 quid retention fee, PER YEAR if you chose to put another reg on before hand!

 

then again, you could always advertise it with it still being registered to your car, thatll be free then so youd have nothing to lose buy them advertising it. any compay that i have used do not charge you until the sale is made :)

£120 retention fee per year?????????????? used to be £25 retention fee??? i always paid that, even for last 4 years on 1 of my plates!

Think if you put it on retention, you pay the dvla transfer fee, i think approx 85 pounds plus 25 pound for the years retention. Then I think its 25 pound every year. If you fail to pay the yearly retention, the number plate can be took off you and become dvla's. Then if you decide to put it on a new car, im sure theres no charge as youve already paid for the transfer.

Most MIL plates seem to be 1200+ so the combination of letters is sought after. My initials...DJM on any mainland plate fetch silly money, so i bought an irish plate with a Z 300 in it ;-)

The plate seems to be anywhere between £500 and £750. Depends on the numbers. Probably get £300 on ebay. Some of the registration sales website will buy it off you, one even advertises it for you offering an auction site but can't remember which one. I have a registration advertised with a couple of sites.

I wouldnt bother getting it valued, id whack it on ebay with a £105 reserve as thats what it will cost for the retention, and put £25 P&P on it to cover the add nominee fee, I had TAZ1824 on my zed when i bought it, i put the plate on ebay hoping for about £200, was well chuffed when i got over £450 for it!

 

The £105 fee you pay to dvla will also include putting a normal plate on your car.

I've had 'PAN 30X' on a very old Renault 30 for donkey's years. Just seen 'PAN 40X' for £1595. Maybe it's worth something after all!

so mine owes me nought!!!! ive had it priced from lots of sites 800-1200pounds but if they buy it straight from me they only want to give me 300pounds????
