how do you go about getting car tax if you have no log book?

the audi i went to see today had no tax and no log book, sounds slightly dodgy huh? but i know the seller so dont think there is anything untoward going on.

 

just how do i go about getting tax?

you have to apply for the log book, without it, no tax :) get the form from the post office.

if you know the details of the car then you should be able to apply for the tax online..

if the car is in your name fill out a V62 form, with £25, then fill out a V10 for the tax disc .... send it off to DVLA and you'll get your tax disc...

 

If its not in your name yet.. then you are screwed. they wont tax it or give you a duplicate log book

 

the guy selling it will have to apply for a duplicate V5 and fillout the form for the tax disc (even if you pay him for it) It will then be sent to him then he can change the duplicate log book to your details
