I tried posting this in the FAQs section but didnt get much response. So ill try here as well

Im in the market for the 99spec Xenon healdights and ive been shopping around and found very cheap set for sale in the US. Now I have a 89 Jspec model zed and my only concern is install the headlights. I have seen the pre-wired version and no wired version and it seems from what ive read in the aus300zx.com forums the pre wired version wont work for the Jspec models cuz they are designed for the US zeds.

Has anyone on this forum brought and installed the 99spec xenon headlights and know how to do it. If i buy just the healdights, do i have to buy a HID kit anyways or is it just plug and play???

I know ill probably get a few members say dont spend you money on headlights just buy a kit for $300 but i wont my zed to have OEM parts on it and here in Australia the OEM Xenon headlgiths are very rare so i want to add that to my car. Atm im looking at $1900 delivered to my door from the US.

for that price i would expect it to come complete with all you need to plug and play , it is cheap for OEM lights , but a far cheaper option would be a xenon conversion from one of the traders on here ........good luck mate

OEM 99-spec headlights can be made to fit with the existing 89-spec wiring - it's a matter of changing some connectors. The only other concern I would have with buying the OEM headlights from the US is the beam pattern. US headlights are built in such a way that the light beam is projected exactly through the centre and both beams are equally long. Compare that with JDM beams which are off-set to the passenger side (of a RHD car) and the driver-side beam is shorter than the passenger-side beam. Euro cars are the opposite. You may have a problem if the car ever needs to be tested (I don't know what the regulations are in Australia). Having said that, production of US-spec cars stopped in 1996, ie - pre-HID headlights - and to the best of my knowledge the 99-spec ZX was only ever produced for the JDM market so the headlights will naturally be for JDM pattern. If that is acceptable in Australia then I would think that the set you are looking to buy is a very good deal. By the way, 99-spec headlights are sold with the HID kit pre-fitted.

DTA also do the 99spec incerts to convert your existing lights to 99spec then you add the HID kit total cost about £400. + about 3 hours work. If you want the genuine macoy then Luke at http://www.zcenter.co.uk sells then for about £900.

Lukes are a tad more expensive than that at £1200 with vat

Nend was advertising a set for 1100 euro the other day....just under £800.

Just reiterating what you've said really.

99-spec headlights for US spec zeds? Would Nissan have even bothered producing these? I bet you'll find all 99-spec headlights are single part number only all for RHD 300zxs.

Since Nissan stopped selling Z32s in the US in 96, would they have bothered to developed 99-spec style headlights for a car that was no longer in production?

Just a concern that's all.

All the 99 spec Headlights are for RHD zeds The US guys get there lights from Japan and your right since the US zeds stopped production at 96 the 99spec headlights were only designed for the Jspec which is a RHD car. I know now thanx to some aus300zx.com forums members who have the headlights installed the CZP pre-wired versions are only for the US zed light wiring harness and dont fit Jspec zeds so the cheaper versions are the way to go for Jspec model zeds.

As ive stated in the FAQ section the place im planning on getting my headlights from has them at $1549.99 USD which = £761.93 GBP not including shipping. I emailed them and they only accept Credit cards for overseas transactions:(. They also have 99/00spec tailights for $390 USD with center panel which is £191.76 GBP

pretty cheap i think.
