Just been out for a drive in the Z. Love the response you get from the cooler air. It's about 13 degrees at the moment. Throttle response is soooooo much better. I am only really used to driving it in the Summer where the warm less dense air is noticeable on performance.

Need more boost though. Stock power just isn't enough. Time for a JD Chip and boost controller. :)

ile second that, just had an hour in mine and whoooooosshhhhh all that nice cold dense air streaming through the i/c,s and apexi filter:hyper:

Stock power is still pretty lively but once you add that chip and 1 bar of boost your Z will be transformed. I took me a couple years of ownership before I got to that stage and I couldnt believe the difference.

I strongly recomend uprating your stock turbo pipes at the same time for some hard pipes. The stock ones will soon fail if there original.

My boost pipes are as-new looking. They were fine on the car when my engine was running in unfortunate 'unlimited boost' status pre-rebuild. Might have a look at that, although a set of good black silicone hoses would be fine for 1bar....?

Would prefer to spend the cash on 350Z brake upgrade first. See how things pan out. Leather is on the cards first within the next month or two. :)

Silocone hoses will be fine at 1 bar and your stock hoses may well be good for the job. I just remember after I installed the first boost upgrade I ended up with several frustrating boost leaks. I picked some hard pipes cheap on Ebay plus did all the small vacuum/boost lines throughout. Surprising but makes a difference with the initial ramp time of the boost aswell.

Ramp time? That the time it takes for the turbos to spool?

Indeed. were not talking much but instead of spending time expanding those old hoses and making up for small leaks the energy is better used for a quicker responce. I deffo noticed it.

I remember seeing the car on the dyno with the old stock hoses. It's surprising how much they expand by under full boost.

i turned my boost up to 1 bar, car was an animal in this cold weather and i was loving it right up until the clutch threw in the towel! bugger

yep, had a good spin today and does run a lot sweeter, more responsive for sure. Doesn't cold damp weather have the same effect?
