I would check the age of the car mate, its a series one but on a J plate that means it should/could be a series two and it has been registard incorrectly.

Look at the bottom of the seatbelts there is a date stamped on the white lable that tells you the year of the car, I'm betting its a 1989/1990 model not a 1992.

J will be series 1.

Early K's are often series 1 too, later K's should be series 2.

Reason I ask is I drive past it every day - Its in better nick than mine (which is rather unwell at the min - ask duffer  ) and has leather so was toying with the idea of part-exing mine ;)

It has been on the forecourt for a couple of months - it originally had the num plate MIB300X (or something v similar - but i did pass it at 40mph when I first saw it appear. The garage have dropped the price down from 4K to just over 3 - I think it maybe a bit of a specialist car for the Foleshill area of Coventry lol (sorry if anyone on here is from that area :p )

Yep, Series II started in Aug '92.

Its one of those though Dave where I've seen K reg Jspec and a J reg UK spec that where serise II. The reg is exactly that, the year it was registered not when it was made.

(cos I nearly bought the UK car then my mate John said I could buy his 94)

The real give away is the aircon/heater having the blower "direction sellection" :nana2: because loads of people have moved the seat belt to the D post and off the door.

However I agree with your general synopsis.

There were loads of cross over cars as well. I know from the chasis number and date of manufacture my Blue car should have had the later fuel rail and ECU but it didn't.

Midlanders? you seen it about? know if its thrashed to death or been driven like a zed .... ok they are close to the same thing - but there is love and care in the latter!

;)

ohh i followed this zed a few months ago near silverstone and it sounded very nice and was in really good condition plus it looks just like mine :D

LOL - mine is 93 (on an L) and it's a series 1 (with manual driver's seat as well :( ). I think the first owner was a tightwad :D
