Autobox Oil Cooler

Does my J spec auto have an aftermarket gearbox oil cooler??

 

Was helping a friend out trying my afm on his s14 tonight and noticed this cooler (well it looks like a cooler!) cable tied to the front bumper, with an MFR date of 39th week of 2002... Is it what i think it is?
