When my car went for its MOT a couple of months ago, the person driving it got caught speeding. I sent the letter off and ‘grassed’ them up as I didn’t want to take the rap for it.

The guy who drove insists he wasn’t speeding so it’s off to the court. (November). He got a letter through the post about his court thing and there is a photo of the car ‘speeding’….. It’s a cracking shot too :D

Just as the car is going over the bridge (from behind) …. It just looks the dogs!

Anyway, question, do you think as the registered keeper of the vehicle, if I go to Hampshire Constabulary or write to them asking for a copy of the photo they will give it to me? Or would they say no as its not me who was driving etc? Anyone ever asked for a photo??

cars in your name i would suspect its your legal right

If you phone the issuing office & explain that you are claiming a third party was driving, but they are denying the offence & that you want a copy of the image to verify - and that you are trying to obtain proof of your whereabout at the time of the offence etc in case it comes back on to you they will probably supply a copy... if you mention that you've sought the advice of a solicitor too & they've suggested the above as the guy's denying knowledge, it might add a bit more pressure!!

I think they charge you know for the photo as well.

It's strange, they probably don't get too many requests for a photo because the car looks good in it.

Darrell

If you are caught speeding, you are entitled to request the photographic evidence (it used to be a loophole that if they couldn't give you the photo by the time you went to court that it was thrown out but I think thats been closed off now :(

I do think that Rich666 is ight though and you get charged about £40 for it !!!!

If you take the (true) line of the driver is contesting then you may bag a freebie (HOPEFULLY!)

Good Luck!!

) ... - for the bracket I forgot to close above! lol

nice one... I'll give it a shot ;)

thanks guys & gals! :D

But if they write to you and say you werent driving so you cant have it

at least you have them admitting you werent driving in writing!

The speeding in question was it really HER car????

Of course she can have a copy of the picture regardless who was driving. The crime involves the aligation of her property.

thats what I was wondering..... because its already gone out to Court because I wasnt driving.... I wasn't sure if they would give me a picture because I'm 'not involved anymore' ......

edk - Claim the prize for 'top point of the day'

The prize is : a glass of water from your own tap

But hey the title is worth more anyway and its still the most important thing said on here today lol

the photo was from behind....and not a front facing photo so ..good luck !!!

..

I didn't get it

Dear Miss Papa(ramdon letters for a surname)

I refer to your recent communication in relation to the above numbered Notice of Intended Prosecution/Section 172 Toad Traffic Act 1988 document issued following detection of a road traffic offence.

I note your request for a copy of the photographic evidence in this case. However, as you were not the driver at the time of the alleged offence, in such circumstances we do not supply copies of the photographs.

Yours Faithfully

Get somebody to stand next to the speed camera with a normal camera and retake it (at a slower speed obviously lol)

I still have mine from years ago when i was 19 LOL

Scan it & post it up then :D :hyper: :nana2:

hi there, you could just put a bin liner over speed camera, take a black and white camera with you and get a mate to take the picture for you!!,job done and just saved yourself £40.00 smackers lol

When someone else got done speeding in my zed they were shot from the front so you could see their face nice and clearly - not much contention there! :D

It was really neat actually, when I got the notification through ("intention to prosecute" as it was called) there were instructions on how to view the photo online, so I could log on, view the photo and that's how I knew it definitely wasn't me who was driving.

I don't get why more police forces don't do that? It saves all this bollix of having to request the photos and stuff.

i still have the photo i got in my focus 4 years ago. dark road, black car, lit from the front, all it was was a number plate, rear reflectors and a very vague outline ! They should at least have got a decent photo !

I thought a photograph of a drivers face was against his/her human rights???

Dunno why it would be. Each time someone visits London they get 100s of pics taken of them by cameras on the underground etc. I can't see why being sat on your arse in your car would make much difference.

These days anything seems fair game
