Under normal conditions (i.e. A/T mode) the gearbox will try and move up the gears as fast as possible, to give greater fuel economy, sometimes then it will change gears at 3,000 revs or possibly less (might not be exactly right hear but near enough). In power mode it holds off doing the gear changes until about 5,000 - 5,900 revs so you basically get the most amount of power out of each gear as you move up the box; this gives you maximum acceleration.

However if you drive in A/T mode and suddenly slam your foot to the floor the geaebox will kickdown and an orange light will appear in the right hand side of your dashboard, saying POWER. In effect the gearbox will go into POWER mode without you pushing the switch, but will switich off when you stop hammering it!

It seems to be similar to the SPORT mode on Auto Jaguars, Mercs etc.

Hope this helps!

I never found a huge difference, as Neil said power will come on if you slam it anyway, but its a cool button though. I used to tell my kids never ever touch that button while im driving or the car will take off lol
