I would also say that if youve got a good local garage use that as they usually rely on repeat buisness, their reputation will soon go down the toilet if they are failing things just to create work and then they will lose out big time in the long run.

 

If you do put a car in for test and think the garage is at it with failure items, get in touch with your local VOSA office, it will initially cost you the price of another test but if your right and the car should have passed the test you will get the fee back.

in an ideal world every car should be tested to the exact same standard, but there are a lot of grey areas in the testers manual where it is down to examiners experience and not a set fail or pass criteria, saying that it still amazes me the amount of testers that fail vehicles on items that are not actualy part of the test.
