Aiming for around 500hp and the kit from Z1 seems good. Can I keep the engine stock or do I have to replace some parts??

 

Also.. Got a manual but might put in an engine from an auto. Is there anything that needs to be done/replaced?

Im no expert but a 500hp im sure you'd need up rated internals, pistons, rods, rings, up rated head gasket, valve springs etc to cope with the extra pressure in the cylinders???

i take it you have the 400bhp kit from them already installed???? I looked into it and it says that before you fit an uprated kit, you should fit the one before it (i.e. 400bhp kit before fitting the 500bhp)

Think it is flywhp (gues around 430 rwhp on pump fuel). And yes have all the things listed in the 400bhp kit. The turbo is called GT525

They got a 600hp kit also that they rate at about the same level as JWT sport 530BB, So gues GT525 turboes is about the same as JWT sport 500...

 

And nend.. that engine is far more than I need... I think...

For 500 british bhp you need forged pistons bud. so basically a fresh rebuild with new gaskets, oil pump and 60k service items etc, again for 500 bhp you deffo need a 5 bolt turbo, the kit listed by z1 is a 4 bolt turbo and would scream it's ass of trying to attain 500bhp :), eprom is better sourced from a UK supplier too.

If you don't want to go through all that, then the turbos, a chip, boost controller, decatt will see a very quick and drivable zed :smash:

Ive got the gt525s and reckon my tubs are nearly maxed out at the 440fwhp im making.should be seeing John Dixon any day now for a few tweaks to see if any more is available.Can let you know if you like what the tubs are capable of.Smithy is right in what he says that 5 bolt exit turbos will produce more power and torque.

Wouldn't around 450rwhp be possible with the Z! kit if the boost was raised?

Have you done some internal engine mods??

My only internal mods are forged pistons and ive mildly ported and polished the lower inlet tracts.The stock crank and rods will handle the upgrade but the rest of the engine has to be in good condition to handle more power,so id advise that the engine was reconditioned first.Z1 state that with camshafts and exhaust manifolds it is possible.Z1 sell the jwt cams on an exchange basis.Be warned that if you really want 450rwhp youre going to need traction control.mines a handful with 360rwhp.in the wet the car will be virtually undriveable.Its not all about hp though as the torque is very important.Smithys car makes a whopping 475lbft making the acceleration unbelievable i should imagine.

475lbft!! jesus christ!! mine spins in fifth in the wet when the boost comes in and im down around 100lbft from him! that must be a handfull!!
