got mine today , looking forward seeing the difference, especially the winter is nearly upon us. They seem excellent value. I remember you couldn't get hid's for less than 200 last year. 100 odd quid is a big comedown

I got a similar set from DTA for a similar price. You WILL notice the difference matey :D

Yeah, got mine in his first lot, superb is the best way to describe it, like a blind man being given new eyes, be sure to do the earth conversion at the bulb socket, otherwise switching back from high beam to dip, could get interesting!

I've got them but don't know what they're like yet. My brother has my car, he fitted them and he said local wildlife was reporting sleeping difficulties. From what I've read they are a worthwhile investment.

HID's (no matter where you get them from) are a GREAT improvement over the stock halogen system. However - and I can not stress this point enough - after you install the HID kit GET THE HEADLIGHT ALIGNMENT CHECKED AND RESET IF NECESSARY. These lights are roughly 300% brighter than stock halogen bulbs and scattering of the light in the wrong direction WILL cause (temporary) blindness in oncoming drivers. Also, it is very important that both the inside and outside of the headlight glass is kept clean. Excessive dirt will cause the light to scatter which reduces the amount of light being projected onto the road.

I have lost track of the amount of times I've been flashed by oncoming vehicles who obviously think I'm driving with my mains on (which I'm not). Fact is, despite the alignment of my headlights being spot-on the brightness still makes them appear like main beams.

I've had HID's since 03 and since I have bought my SWB NA's I can't believe I live with normal lights for the first 3.5 years of ownership.

i'm running a project with these 2 cars. One car will only get bits from ebay and the other I'll sorce bit from reputable places. Just to see how good the stuff is you can get from ebay. So next week I'm fitting a HID set I've bought for £24 from ebay and in a couple of months i'm going to get the 99 incerts and a HID set from Danny and see which is best if any. So far I have bought a Nippon racing clutch and Flywheel (brand new ) for less than the price od the cheepest flywheel I could buy here. I have bought headers and decats etc and the suff has been great quality and fit perfect. So far I've spent less than £500 to up grade my brakes (just remembered need to pay Paul some money) manifolds, decats, racing clutch and flywheel (masive wheight saving) HID's, bottom pulley, short shifter and door speakers. Only been stung on a Alpine head unit. Any way will let you know.

I've been looking at the HID's but isnt as straight forward to fit them to a UK car it seems the dim-dip cct has to be removed.

PM Dan at DTA, he will explain it to you in full.

cheers for the advice :) one question. The bulbs themselves are wrapped in foam with a big bright sticker saying "DONT TOUCH BULB" given the tricky and tight bulb replacement in z's theres always the possibility you'll touch it off something if not your own hand. Are they more suseptable than ordinary bulbs? And do they last longer? Sorry ,that's 2 questions before someone points it out :)

It's just a warning to prevent grease from your fingers contaminating the bulb. Not sure of the science, but I think that it can shorten the life of the bulb IIRC. If you wear gloves when fitting then it eliminates the risk...

As Steve says - try to wear latex gloves (the variety without talcum powder is best) and avoid touching the glass of the bulb.

The theory is, if the glass is touched by your finger some oils are left on the glass. Once the bulb is ignited and shining brightly, the oil residue will form a "hot spot" on the glass which will eventually break the glass due to a different expansion/contraction rate compared to the surrounding glass.

The same should apply for all bulbs, HID or not. As for the bulbs touching other parts on their way into the headlights - try and avoid it but it is less serious than leaving a finger print on the glass.
